"Razr2 V9x - Best cell phone available today !" on by wicastawakan
Pros: Outstanding reception, volume & clarity. Crystal talk is the most outstanding technological advancement in cell phones in quite awhile. Slim & attractive design, fast internet, decent menu. Decent interface, rock solid, dependable & well
Cons: Finger print magnet, battery life good but not great unless you add an extended battery. I would like more options on the outside screen. A wider choice of menu options or different programs would be nice. Nit-picking but ..... No real deficits.
Summary: I am an adult that works in the medical field & I am on call at times. I absolutely have to have a cell phone that has good reception, good clarity & volume & dependable. I've tried them all & nothing fills the bill for me like the Razr series. If you're looking for entertainment, impressive gadgets, simple minded entertainment, etc. this may not be your first pick, although the music player & speakers work very well with good volume & sound. Of course, the bass is soft but acceptable. It is also nice to be able to access the player from the outer screen at a touch of the button. You can also check you recent calls/messages on the outside screen. The camera works very well & I print out a lot of pictures taken with this phone. The phone holds a lot of contacts/addresses & the voice command on this phone is very impressive & I haven't seen one that works any better, but most don't work this well. Very nice feature.
I live in a rural area & in a situation (medicine) that I must have contact with others. I have two services to accomplish that & have the Rzr2 v9m on Alltel & the Rzr2 v9x on AT&T. I simply have to have phone capability & this is my solution at this time. There are a lot of neat cell phones out there today & you can just about find anything you want. I've owned & tried several & it is just what you want or need in a phone that influences your choices. I don't need a smart phone although I wouldn't mind having one but I cannot take one into my place of employment, so I don't need one. I don't need the BlackBerry services, but like their phones & service, just not exactly what I need. I primarily need a DGCP, darn good cell phone & the Razor series has served me well the last few years. Fantastic phone & I have been very happy with the razr series the last few years to provide exactly what I need. There are enough phones out there that each has something someone wants or needs. An amazing array of phones, programs & services, take your pick. But if you want a cell phone for communication that is depenable & efficient, you'll by hard pressed to purchase anything that will out perform the Razr2. -
"Best call quality." on by edgefan
Pros: Simply the best call quality I have ever had on a mobile phone.
Cons: Camera lacks flash.
Summary: I recently gave up on my Treo 680 because of the poor call quality, coupled with several software crashes. The Razr2 V9x has a ton of features, great picture quality, and the touch controls on the outer screen provide great accessibility to incoming messages, as well as pics, video, and the music player. I am very pleased with the call quality, which was one of the primary factors influencing my choice. The keypad is easy to use - something I was initially concerned about. While shopping, my second choice was the LG Shine, which lost out due to its cramped keypad and because I felt that the navigation control was difficult to use.
I would also like to point out that I live in an urban neighborhood that is notorious for spotty coverage from all three major carriers. The signal strength on the Razr2 V9x is significantly better than my previous phone (which sometimes dropped calls). -
"Get extra batteries/cords or you'll be sorry..." on by ranran4
Pros: Call quality is the best I've ever used on a cell phone
Good old motorola clamshell form factor
Screen resolutions are wonderfulCons: BATTERY LIFE SUCKS TERRIBLY!!!!
Fingerprint magnet
BATTERY LIFE SUCKS TERRIBLY!!!!
No flash for camera, Serioulsy?
oh, did I mention:
BATTERY LIFE SUCKS TERRIBLY!!!!Summary: What a dissapointment in a phone, even though the call clarity/quality was the best I've ever used on a cell phone. Most people couldn't tell I was on a mobile when in a good-signal area. What's more, the receiving quality was as good as a land-line in a well, in a signaled area.
But again (and the biggest detractor for this rig) THE BATTERY LIFE IS HORRIBLE!!! I thought at first I had a bum battery, and invested in a new OEM motobattery to replace it. In short, it sucked just like the original battery!!! It took all day to charge, and when it did, two calls later it as already only one bar of battery left.
For sale: V9x that has been used only a week if anybody is interested. Een have two batteries and two cables. You'll need them. LOL... -
"Design Flaw.... Worthless Warranty" on by Waginwheel
Pros: Wonderful features, compact and fast on the internet.
Cons: Design defect that causes the keyboard to lock up. Not repairable and Motorola will not warranty the phone. A bogus moisture sensor that changes color over time even on brand new phones lets them claim liquid damage has occured and voids the warranty
Summary: Excellent concept if the reliability was there and the company would honor the warranty. This is the worst case of corporate sponsored consumer fraud I have ever seen in 45 years. The earlier Razr V3 series phones were bullet proof but they tried to pack too many features into the V9X so when it came to manufacturing them in China they had to build them in such a way that the phone cannot be dissassembled for repair without destroying the phone. Thus making it a throw away product. When the work they are good , but when they quit working as mine did you just throw it away and buy a different brand that has a better reliability factor because the warranty is worthless. I lhad 2 of them. The first one lasted 10 to 15 minutes before the keyboard locked up. The dealer replaced it without any hassel. The second one lasted 3 months and the Motorola warranty repair center in McAllan, Tx. sent it back unrepaired because the phones are not repairable. They would not honor the warranty and replace it since the phones are no longer in production even though there are lots of them still available from independent dealers. Motorola's official response is... tough. Buyer beware you are not dealing with a reputable company anymore....
