"Good Phone, Could Be Better."
Pros: Screen Quality, A2DP, Eye-Catching Design, Slider Quality, MP3 Player, MicroSD Capability, General Feel
Cons: Sound Quality Mediocre at Times, Random Resetting, Camera could be better, Speakerphone, Motorola Interface, Menu/Button slowness
Summary: PROS:
Screen Quality: I really enjoy this phone's screen quality. I came to this from a RAZR V3, I lost a little size to the screen, but it's definitely worth it when you see the intensity and brightness of the colors.
A2DP: Wow, this is a great feature. I love being able to walk around my house with my Bluetooth Headphones on with my phone sitting on the table. Even better to control the music straight from the headphones with the buttons. This feature is really only useful if you listen to music on your phone a lot and are willing to spend $75-$100+ on a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
Eye-Cathching Design: This (obviously) was the very first thing I noticed about the phone. The black is VERY sharp and the sliding factor is great. On the backside of the sliding mechanism, there is a small "tattoo" which is interesting and eye-catching as well.
Slider Quality: I've had this phone for a year, and the slider is as tight (not too tight) as it was the day I got it.
MP3 Player: Again, only useful if you're into listening to music on your phone and if you're willing to buy a memory card and headphones. I never got the Java Music Player to work, but from what I have heard, it's a battery killer and it's weird to use. I use the regular Motorola MP3 Player which works seamlessly with the Bluetooth headphones and has a great volume output.
MicroSD Capability: It's true that the Card is located in an inconvenient place, but at least you can take it out without having to remove the battery (ahem, RAZR), so if you want to throw a couple of songs on you phone really quick and have a card reader, it'll take you about a minute, if that. Also, if you take a lot of pictures, get one. You'll need it. And this way, you won't need to pay to get the pictures from your phone to your computer by MMS messages.
General Feel: This phone has a sturdy feel to it. I've dropped this phone a few times, and it didn't skip a beat. It has a few scratches, but for me, that's not a big deal.
CONS:
Sound Quality: Sometimes, when I'm talking, I feel like I'm talking to myself as a lot of times I hear myself in the earpiece which is kind of weird. The other line is usually pretty sturdy, but occasionally when I speak, I hear myself in my ear. From the phone. Which is weird.
Random Resetting: This may be due to the fact that I've dropped my phone a few times, but the phone did not suffer much damage (it was on carpet), but my phone screen goes white then goes back to the home screen about three times a day. This whole cycle is about one minute each. It's pretty annoying when I'm in the middle of writing a text message, or listening to music, but it's the worst when I'm having a phone conversation.
Camera: Don't let the "2 MEGAPIXEL" branding on this phone fool you. The camera isn't that great. Sure, you have two megapixels, but it doesn't matter if every picture you take is blurry. This camera is in desperate need of AutoFocus, such as the EnV or the Voyager (my next phone). If you have a really steady hand, though, you'll get some pretty good shots. Oh, and the flash. Wow. It's so bright, I use that thing as a FLASHLIGHT. It's brighter than a flashlight, even. I was doing a maze in the woods for Halloween. We all forgot flashlights. The only way we made it out so quickly was because of the INCREDIBLY bright light.
Speakerphone: Dismal--that's all I can say on that.
Motorola Interface, Menu/Button slowness: The GSM Motorola interface is terrible. It is SLOW. I will type in a phone number I want to call and three seconds after I have typed the number out, it's finally on the screen, ready for me to push send. And texting. Wow. I text QUICKLY. The screen lags about 3-4 seconds when I'm typing and again, I have to wait about 3-4 seconds after typing so I can send the text. I guess it's not a HUGE deal, but it's kind of irritating at times.
So, all in all, it's a good phone. Feature-rich and multimedia-rich, this phone is for the person that loves all the gadgets. Even with some minor flaws, this is a great phone.
