"One of the best Verizon phones"
Pros: Reception, voice clarity, controls very well thought out
Cons: Slow Moto software
Summary: I strongly support LG phones as their software is usually VERY good - actually the best of the Verizon phones. I have had the 8300, 8600 and recently the 8350 and 8550. All but the 8350 are very good phones. I was too quick to do a review on the 8350 and gave it a 9. If I could edit that, it would be a solid 6.
I changed to the 8550 as I wanted a slider and the 8350 is poo. Nice phone, not good FOR ME to have the touch buttons...accidentally hit them frequently and physically did not fit me.
Enter the RIZR. In person I saw the RIZR had wonderfully well thought out controls and design. I could not bring myself to getting it as it was a Moto - their software was usually poopy. But I really liked this phone...
I looked up many different sites and CNET. All good reports!!!! I called Verizon tech and was advised they get MANY Motos returned but the only reason a RIZR gets returned is to go to a PDA style phone. Interest peaked.
I went to three different V stores and spoke with in-house techs. All verified Motos are generally returned due to software issues but NO RIZRs yet!!
I have had this one for about 4 days. The LG8350, tho good phone has LOUSY battery life. W/RIZR I was able to go 1.5 days on the "factory" charge.
I want a phone to use as a phone and I text a ton. TV, music, & camera mean NOTHING to me. The mechanism/hardware is VERY well made. The buttons are easy to push even being flat. It is very easy to text with this phone.
The sound of hearing a person on a call makes, for me, this the best cell phone I have ever used. I can actually hear the caller's every word. The phone seems to fit my face where the 8550 Chocolate never did. This makes the speaker line up better for MY ears. This is important as I spent too many years playing drums in a rock band and being a law enforcement firearms instructor.
As mentioned, I like the way the controls are laid out. The buttons, like the keys, work very well and are easy to push. They respond very positively and are not sluggish - all keys. I have had no prob with reception or battery life.
BIG HUGE DOWNSIDE - some will say this phone is faster in software than the old RAZRs. I would agree, but it is still Moto software and is slow compared to LGs. Otherwise this would be the 1st 10 I ever gave to a phone...Moto? Please speed it up and update the software!!! It can be done...
This really is a very very good phone. If it fits you and you like the controls, stay with this one and put pressure on Moto to upgrade the software again for a little more speed.

I am sorry to say that all Motorola phones on the Verizon network do not run on Motorola software.
For several years Verizon has "standardized" the operating systems on all their cell phones, while allowing for some custom tweaks to LG phones due to their design.
So when you say that the phone is slow due to Motorola that part is not true.
I have a Motorola that I had to reflash the operating system with the one from Motorola to make it faster, increase battery life, customization ect.
Just thought that you and any people reviewing the Motorola phones with Verizon should know...
