"Cool, but problematic"
Pros: Very slim, great design, great looking, amazing "morphing keyboard," good 2Gb basic memory, expendable to more.
Cons: Very slow; large compared to others; receive messages from T-Mobile all the time about updates, but they never get through And, to top it all off, phone just froze today - just two months after buying it, and can't remove battery cover.
Summary: It's undeniable that the design of the ROKR E8 is extremely attractive. The keyless keyboard, morphing depending on what you're doing, is great. But the cons of the phone make you forget about the pro very quickly.
Menus are very slow to load. Battery doesn't last long at all while listening to music - which is the whole point of this phone. Mine last for 40 minutes with music and then it's dead. Scroll Wheel is not simple to use at all.
The cherry on the top for me has been the phone freezing today. It seems to be on, it makes sound, but the screen is still dark. And I can't turn it off. T-Mobile service support doesn't know anything specific about this phone, asking me to remove the battery. Which, by the way, I can't seem to be able to, as the battery cover is wide shut. Anything besides that, customer support doesn't have a clue yet.
I bought it on a whim, and regret it. Should've gone with a RAZR 2 or even an iPhone, since I paid $100 on top of renewing a 2-year contract for it.
I'll most probably be taking it to be fixed tomorrow in a store, and might try to switch it for another model, if they let me.
It's a fun toy, but not worth the money or the hassle. Buy an iPhone, or by an iPod and another phone.
