"Head turner but room for improvement"

by anshumantaneja on February 16, 2006

Pros: Amazing looks, mp3 player, stereo headphones, expandable memory

Cons: Software bugs, sluggish applications, poor camera, mp3 ringtones limited to internal memory of 5mb

Summary: I've had this phone for about a month and I am fairly satisfied with it.

    Pros:
People will notice this phone.. guaranteed. It looks great. Having a mp3 player doesnt hurt either. Stereo headphones make for great talk clarity. Fits in trouser and shirt pockets quite nicely.

    Cons:
It seems like Motorola released this phone with quite a set of Software bugs. Probably rushed it to keep up with the intense competition.

1.The applications on the phone hang once in a while. Especially the music player. You have to restart the application or phone in such cases. This has happened 3 times in the last month with my phone.

2.While you can add a mp3 ringtone to the phone, there is a weird catch. Get this - mp3 ringtones can only be added to the miniscule internal phone memory- which is just 5mb. So even though you may have 100 mp3s on your removal 512 mb memory, you can load only a few sub minute mp3 clips for use as your ringtones. What a waste!!

    3. "MPT" or mobile phone tools is a software that interfaces your phone with your PC. Has some cool features, but is buggy. The application which loads a phone directory from the PC to the phone, could not correctly parse a simple text file with my contacts (I tried all their text file templates). There is another application which handles multimedia stuff like creating mp3 ringtones from a regular mp3 file and loading it on your phone. But again, the software is buggy.

To sum up, buy it if you want a great looking phone with some cool features, and dont mind stepping around some bugs.
