"Poor Photo Synch With Computer"3.0 starson by VelowayRider
Pros: Bluetooth, iTunes
Cons: Ergonomics, Photo, USB Functionality
Summary: I purchased my SLVR 4 days ago and it has failed to live up to expectations. I have to compromise the phone features when compared to other much less expensive phones in order to get iTunes and Bluetooth.
The things I do not like about this phone:
Too small. Difficult to use keypad compared to other phones. LCD screen gets dirty easily and is unprotected so when talking it picks up perspiration. Have not been able to find a protective case that fits this phone. Very poor instruction manual. Takes a long time to figure out such stuff as how to move a photo from this phone to my computer; Still unable to do this.
USB synch requires disabling blue tooth link temporarily and you have to remember to reset this link. When using with USB port, the computer recognizes the device, but I have been unable to upload photo files to the computer and the manual is no help. Camera is sluggish and very low resolution; just useful for a memory jogger; if I want useful low resolution photos I better take my real camera.
The iTunes works well and synchs well with the computer; if only the photo files worked as well. The sound quality is mediocre at best, but better than nothing and beats lugging a second device. Nice to know I can hear an incoming call signal while using the headphones.
All in all, a nice novelty, but I doubt this product has durability in the market.
I would not recommend it and I will most likely change to another phone when my contract runs out. But, I will visit the seller to see if they can help me figure out the photo transfer procedure. It is especially annoying that iTunes activates every time I connect via USB to try to copy a photo to the computer and do not wish to use iTunes; it causes delays.
Nice toy, but not a good tool for the momey.Updated
Now that I have been using this phone for two months, I find the following to be very good: Bluetooth, speaker (for conference calls), iTunes, works well with earbuds provided and with my Sennheiser headset, and I found a great case for it at Podsplus.com. I had a malfunction and the warranty was honored instantly. No complaints there either. It is handy to have a camera as you never know when you might need photos as for instance in an accident so I hope I can find out how to upload to my computer. I would upgrade my rating to an 8.0 now.
