"Nextel. Done" on by JunFan08
Pros: Cool design, decent camera, excellent inner display, good reception, nice variety of features
Cons: Outer case scratches/ shows wear easily, no Bluetooth?!, camera spotlight should have been a flash
Summary: The i860 is definitely the best phone that Nextel has introduced so far. It's compact and relatively lightweight design, coupled with a sleek color scheme and innovative hinge flip make it fun and modern looking.
As far as features, the phone offers all of the traditional Nextel features as in previous phones....with an added twist.
The newest features, a large outer LCD and camera are a nice addition. The camera produces images that I would have to say are above average for a cell phone, and although it has a spotlight built into the front, it does little in dark places. A flash would have been more applicable.
The outer LCD works like the traditional caller ID, but is larger and easier to read.
The inner LCD is a real treat, the largest that Nextel has ever put into a phone, and offers vibrant colors and pictures.
The i860 gets great reception (in areas I know to have reception) and transmits clearly.
My only real problem with the phone is the fact that the glossy outer case scratches and shows wear easily. While the lack of Bluetooth is excusable until the next model, it should have been a feature in a phone of this caliber. The flip hinge, while novel, is also a little stiff, requiring a little more force to close than would have been needed.
Overall, i think this a solid product with good qualities that outweigh it's flaws. It will be interesting to see how Nextel/Motorola builds on the next model. -
"Good Looks. Poor Quality" on by antjaw
Pros: Looks cool, Small size for a Nextel, Speakerphone
Cons: Drops calls, Poor sound quality for ring tones, Poor image quality from camera
Summary: I waited for Nextel to come out with a phone that was small enough and had a few features I liked. I purchased this phone for $300 with a 1 year service agreement. The WORST thing about this phone is the reception. You can be standing still and have full strength one moment and then drop to no service. I miss a full 50% of my calls even when I am at full signal strength. 50% of the calls I miss dont even go to Voice mail. When I do get voice mail, it sometimes takes an hour or more to notify me. I thought it might be the reception in my area but my roommate has an older Nextel and he has NO problems.
I very rarely have any problems with the Direct Connect. That works flawless. I use DC for 90% of my calls so that is the only reason I havent thrown this phone againstthe wall. If you are buying this phone because it has a camera phone, dont. The quality is sub-par at best.
I purchased the data cable so that I could put my own ringtones and media on the phone. I think I have been sucessfull 2 out of the 50 times I tried. The phone rejects almost every type of media sent to it, and Yes, I know what I am doing. -
"Horrible DON'T Buy it" on by MarianSpartansRule
Pros: picture quality
Cons: hinge is loose, the ear piece crackes within 2 months
Summary: I got an i860 in October of 2004, then in Dec. i had to get a new one because it turned on and off by itself. Then in April i had to take it back and get a new one because the ear piece cracked. Now it is doing it again, it does this because you have to shut it hard to close and then the little rubber stoppers crack it. I think this is the worst Nextel i have ever owned ... DONT BUY IT if you have any questions email me at SpartansRule1@comcast.net thnx

"THUMBS UP, Nextel ! WAY UP !!!" on
Pros: I cannot believe some of these remarks about the i860. Great phone ! Big, bright colored screen and great reception. I was a avid AT&T Wireless fan for over 8 years and just recently came over to Nextel. The reception and customer service is WAYYY
Cons: Battery life could be better but overall acceptable.

"Catch up Nextel" on
Pros: It's the best phone nextel has to offer. The chirp (Walkie talkie). Camera phone.
Cons: Nextel sucks here in L.A. My sidekick 2 gets better reception! 10 seconds of video is pointless. This phone is old tecnology from the start, and it cost to much. Nextel when you going to catch up and upgrade from 800mhz IDEN? I've been a faithful nextel c
