"excellent reception" on by ottar_s
Pros: It is a phone. It works like a phone. It pulls in signal strength where others phones do not and sound quality is very high.
Cons: It's not an iPhone
Summary: I use a computer for email and web searching-- this phone is not good at that, so if you want a multimedia phone, this really isn't it. But if you travel a lot or are in a lot of dead-zones or noisy places, I recommend this phone.

"Menus are painfully slow, freezes up on shut down." on by zimtekcom
Pros: Built for real life phone use.
Cons: Operating system requires more than the processor can handle. Voice Recognition required holding a button for several seconds several times to activate. Voice Recognition prompts have a fairly long delay and then a long chime before you can speak.
Summary: All functions seem to take a half a second longer than they should... everything is delayed. Even the start up graphics are jerky, indicating processor overload. I may just have a bad one, but now that I've synced it with my Outlook and have 600+ contacts and a many calendar events, it is very slow... Mine often freezes on shut down and I have to pull the battery out - mine is frozen right now, which is why I'm writing this review. I have experienced minimal dropped calls. It has talking phone functions. Yes this one can be set to read the menus, your email or texts to you... pretty kewl but not completely hands free and the volume can not be changed while in this function. If I simply have a bad one, then it may be a good phone, if they're all like mine then you should wait for a firmware fix. Overall My V3xx (2 years older) was technologically a far superior phone.

"Not all I had hoped for" on by wrench_man
Pros: The internal display is bright and colorful. The key pad is easy to use.
Cons: The ringer volume is not loud enough. When the volume is at the max setting with the external speaker the speaker distorts badly. At times I can hear my echo while talking and I have not been able to obtain the rated battery life.
Summary: Overall I would say this phone is disappointing after reading the hype and using the phone for a week or so. I like the overall size of the phone, it's large enough to use with gloves but that is all this phone and the Nextel line have in common. I work around construction equipment and the ringer is not loud enough and the speaker phone function distorts at max volume. I cannot understand why moto can't build us a GSM phone as good as a Nextel. Cameras, voice recorders, video play back, and streaming music are not important in a rugged phone. Volume, call quality and durability are. This phone does not measure up.

"Good but not as good as it should be" on by RodThaBod
Pros: Great call quality. Very durable. Nice raised keys for texting.
Cons: Photos on this phone are terrible. Looks more like a 1.3 than a 2.0.
Summary: I am a UPS driver and this phone is good for the people in the working field. If you are looking for a nice phone to take pics with then this is not the phone for you!

"Phone is junk!" on by chochee2
Pros: Lound ring, bright screen mil spec.
Cons: Freezes up at Goodbye. When talking to someone it shows connected and there is no one at the other end. Even at AT&T rep said it had problems. Motorola and AT&T can fix it or do not want to.
Summary: This product would be great if Motorola was able to fix the problems. Apparently after speaking with them, they are not interested. Save your money.
