    "The absolute worst phone ever"

by killersnacks on June 14, 2005

    Pros: none what so ever

    Cons: where do I begin

Summary: This phone is junk!!! Between my girlfreind and I who share a plan we are now on our third set (thats 6 total) Motorola V220's because Cingular doesnt do anything when a phone goes bad aside from replace it with the identical phone. I literally lose 8 out of 10 calls, I lose signal while I am using the phone Ive watched the signal bars drop to zero lose my call and as soon as Im disconnected it shoots back up to full signal, I use 85 percent of my text package texting people to call me, because when I dial I get the "call failed" message over and over again. When I recive calls my phone seems to reset itself randomly, dying out and then when it comes back on and I try to dial out it says "please wait" for a minimum of 30 seconds before it can perform any functions and if the person who called me is trying to call back at that moment, it dies out again! Ive replaced the phone, the sim card, and the battery and its always the same. This phone is horrible and Ive read some of the reviews here and apparently Im not the only one. With this many complaints you'd think they'd do a recall. I will NEVER buy Motorola again!!!
P.S. since I gave this a rating of 1 cnet asked me to be sure this is the rating I wanted to post which I assure you it is without a doubt, but it makes me wonder how many people bumped there rating up to a two because of that notice. If there was a zero I would of chose that!!!

I have a Motorola V-220 and it is a solid phone with good reception and call quality. It has been my experience over the years that when there is poor reception and/or call quality, it is usually not the fault of the phone. Its the Network.

I've gone through THREE of these phones and Cingular won't reimburse me the cost of the phone to UPGRADE! It's the most frustrating and waste of $150 I've ever spent.

I agree with killersnaks, this phone is a piece of junk. It was the second cell phone I ever had, and 6 days after I bought the phone, I closed it, and my outside screen had a huge crack in it. I told my dad and we went to Cingular, who said, I probably ran into something, and the 30 day warrenty wouldn't help us get a new one. So then, my dad buys one after getting sick of his LG and we also find replacement screens for mine online.

A few days ago, he went to sleep and woke up, opened the phone, and the inside screen was broken, as for mine, two days ago, my girlfriend called and for some reason, my phone decided it would be a good time to short out the screens, so it's impossible for me to see anything on either of them, unless I shut it off for hours on end, and then when I turn it back on, it will stay for about 30 seconds after the start up.

These phones are junk that Cingular/Motorola should replace, instead of just saying "That isn't covered by the warrenty"

Every phone manufacturer has its bugs. And the v220 is one of motorola's BIG bugs. But mortorola is one of the longest cell phone manufacturers around. They have provided great cell phones for years. Just go with a different model.

I have been having this phone for about 6 months and thats only because cingular keeps replacing it with another Motorolla V220. I lose almost all of my calls. Doesnt matter if im driving in a major city, walking in the mall, sittig at my desk or just outside on the patio. This phone is awful. When I try to dial someone, I almost always get "CALL FAILED" 2 or 3 times before the call goes through, only to drop!. Motorolla has really messed this one up. Im a Nokia-Lover and the only reason I ordered the V220 was the fact that I wanted a flip phone. Nokia didnt make one. Im determined to give Cingular this piece of crap back. They keep sending out the same phone. by the time the finish paying fed-ex to bring me phone after phone, they will be sorry. PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PHONE!
