"Great Phone!"
Pros: Operability, signal reception, voice quality, battery life, speakerphone, external antenna connection
Cons: Motorola Phone Tools software must be purchased separately.
Summary: My wife and I recently traded in our old bullet proof Nokia 5165 TDMA "candy bar" phones to take advantage of our service providers expanded network of GSM towers (cellular one). We live in an area with rather poor coverage and phones with the ability to pull in weak signal strength is critical, along with the ability to attach an external cartop antenna for those really poor coverage spots.
We've had the v235 phones for 1 week and so-far we're quite pleased. Neither one of us are "techies"; the phone operating system is intuitive and simple to navigate. Basic phone operation is quick and easy. An external antenna is still required in certain areas, but the phones seem to do a good job pulling in signal overall.
The sound quality of the phone is good, and the earpiece volume is very good. The speakerphone works surprisingly well and is a nice feature.
I haven't downloaded any photos or movie clips from the camera to my computer yet (waiting for software to arrive) but judging from their file size and appearance on the phone's monitor I suspect they'll be OK if "snapshot" quality is what you're after.
Overall we're quite happy with the V235 and plan on keeping them.
