"Great Phone. Solid and well built"4.5 starson by Sparky_666
Pros: Expandable/removable memory (uSD). Plays multimedia. Easy to use
Cons: No headphone jack (must use USB or bluetooth).
Summary: I like this phone! It seems to be the right size for a "phone" when unfolded and the sound quality is pretty good too (but that also depends on the carrier). You can take videos or even just plain old pictures although the camera is "limited" to just 1.3 megapixels. Any video you catch is also stored in the 3GP format which may be a problem for some people. However, it does have an 8X digital zoom which seems pretty steady. But what I like most is the micro-SD memory slot. That's right! a multimedia phone that supports external memory and it's SD!!!
The bad part is probably the lack of any headphone jack. However, it does offer blue tooth as well as USB and does come with with a ear bud headset for the USB port. But unless you use bluetooth for anythning "stereo" then you're going to be limited to listening to your media using the phones built in speaker or some sort of USB device. The other bad (maybe not) is the micro-SD card slot is by the battery. That means you have to take the battery cover off to get to it but you don't have to remove the battery.
All in all, I really like the phone. It could be better as far as cameras go. The 3GP video format can be a problem for the novice, but for me it's not a big headache. If you know how to "trans code" your media and don't mind using bluetooth or USB for audio output then the W490 is probably a great choice. Frankly, I was considering a Razr but once I saw the micro-SD memory on the W490 and NOT one on the Razr, I got the W490.
I'm sure there are "better" more capable phones out there but you'll be hard pressed to find one in the same price category with all the features that the W490 has. What amazes me is why the W490 isn't more popular than the Razr!
