"Z6c delivers exactly what it boasts"
Pros: CDMA/GSM Functionality; Menu Navigation & Softkeys; Form Factor
Cons: Smudges; International SMS; Verizon Menus
Summary: I purchased this phone one week ago, and I have been very happy thus far with the overall performance.
Pros~
International and Unlock Codes:
The same day of purchase, I call Verizon Support to have my phone unlocked as I will be international for the next 4 6 months; they gave me the unlock code over the phone. I currently have a SIM card from Malta and checked the unlock code and loaded the Malta SIM card, not to use the card but to test the code. There were no problems; the phone registered the card. I then switched back to CDMA Only and I was back to my original settings.
Battery Life and Talk Time:
I have been away from home this past week and have been using my phone on a regular basis. I state this because I have not been in a phone charge routine. I left home on Sunday and finally charged my phone on Wednesday, even though I still had one bar of charge remaining. Battery life has been more than exceptional!
For Factor and Stability:
I was nervous at first about the purchase of a slider. I have been interested before was turned off due to flimsy design and worry of breaking the spine of the phone (something has to make the phone stay open, and with other sliders I knew I would find the way to break it). This phone is slim enough to put in my front pocket, sturdy with slider out and hardy just enough that you have something in your hand.
External Softkeys and Navigation:
This area of the phone has both pros and cons. I like the fact that I can navigate my phone by using the shortcut keys and Softkeys without opening the slider. The navigation (shortcut) keys can be set to specific menus and submenus. I like this feature but would liked to have seen a more granular menu of choices. I like to lock my phone when not in use during the day, just in case it falls into little hands or strangers. I would have liked to set a shortcut key to this submenu, but the list of choices is not that intricate.
Cons~
Besides calls and texts internationally:
This is a definite negative for this phone. While abroad the Z6c will make and receive calls and texts, however the SMS, e-mail push and IM are no longer available (unless you purchase an international plan with Verizon). These areas are not that important to me, Ill be on business and will have access to other forms of communication, but it is a hindrance to the Multi-media facets of the phone as a whole.
Smudgy Phone:
The outside of the phone is polished and picks up every finger, face and ear print. This bugs me enough to clean the phone face once or twice a day. It isnt that big of a deal but still a nuisance!
