"After a year of awful use--it died--no more NEC for me."
Pros: Nice display - long battery life
Cons: Very poor quality and human interface bad.
Summary: I have had my 515 for over a year and have watched the keyboard become intermittent and the covers for the charger and ear piece fall apart. Those are the minor things. The phone would often "re-boot" at the most inopportune moments. Then after little more than a year it finally died. Now try to get service, its impossible. These are some of the reasons I would never buy another one... the keyboard is terrible. There is no difference to the feel of the top row of keys and the numbers. It is easy to hit the wrong button. The phone book edit functions intermittently and differently for different numbers in the same phone book. The IR is impractical to use (I have two NEC's in my family and try to keep them in sync). The earpiece volume is way too low. The PC interface (to use it as a modem) is awful. Hook up to a PC doesn't work. The volume changes during the call. I could go on and on but bottom line is NEC should not be in the cell phone business until it cleans up its act.
