"Great phone, long battery life, great functionality!" on by mshep001

Pros: This phone has: great battery life, easy Nokia navigation, good music quality, good looks, cheap price, and much more

Cons: Display resolution (it is pretty good though), external camera

Summary: My new 6085 beats out the previous phones I've owned (I have owned the following phones: Nokia 6030, Nokia N75, and Nokia 2610).

My top criteria in selecting a phone were: battery life, reception, call quality, looks, and cool bonus features. The Nokia 6085 satisfies these requirements and more. If you are looking for a moderately priced multimedia phone that you can rely on, look no further.

I would advise anyone that wants to buy this phone to try it out first. If you are looking for a flashy phone with a ultra high resolution screen and Dolby 5.1-esque speaker quality then this is not the phone for you. If you are looking for a simple, cheap phone that has a lot of extra goodies then check this phone out.

"Poor Voice Quality" on by MuchKneaded

    Pros: Basic phone

Cons: larger and thicker than desired

Summary: I returned this phone after 2 days for the following reasons:
    1) poor voice quality - on both sides of the calls (muddy quality)
    2) the phone was larger and thicker than my older phone.

I switched to the Nokia 6126: slightly better voice quality and trimmer size.
    (Carrier is AT&T/Cingular)
My needs are for a very basic phone without all the bells & whistles. I don't want a camera, mp3 player, video, email or text. I just want a basic phone to make telehone calls!! I suspect this is the reason why cell phones are getting larger instead of smaller.

"Excellent Entry Level Device" on by pfdurand35

Pros: mSD expandable memory; super long battery life; pc sync; thumb friendly keys; lightweight; free phone (through AT&T)

Cons: Low Ring Volume; dim screen in daytime; no single key return to main screen

Summary: My wife and I had a pair of Nokia 6102i's for which this phone is the replacement. She dropped her old phone one too many times which is the only reason we made the upgrade (I still have my 6102i as a back up).

The 6085 improved on the ear piece and speaker phone volume. This was an issue as my car is old and loud. Ironically, the alert and ring tones do not seem as loud as they did with the 6102i. I've missed a few calls when the phone was on a table in another room. I was also disappointed that the screen is still too dim under a daytime sky but that may just be the price you pay for longer batter life. My only other minor grievance is that when you are a few menu items in, say reading a text message, there is no one button to return you to the main screen. On the 6102i simply pressing and holding the clear button provided this feature.

Otherwise, call quality has improved in volume and clarity (though it seems a bit muted). The phones software runs faster than the previous models and more of the menu choices like confirming deletion default to the center key allowing faster operation.

Our cell phones are our only phones so they get a lot of use. My main concern was the messaging and call capabilites which the 6085 delivers on admirably. The poor image quality and music playback are not issues for me. I have an iPod for music and if I really need digital photos, I'd be better served by getting an actual camera considering you can buy several pocket sized models with 6 megapixels or more for under $200. If you are looking for the latest and the greatest in mobile this phone is not it. If you just need a cell phone that works well without breaking the bank this one delivers.

"Marginal at best" on by bluntz976

Pros: I've dropped it a ton and it can still handle it

Cons: Sound quality is extremely low both in ring volume and speaking/hearing volume. Battery life not as strong as when first received

Summary: First Nokie I've had that I didn't like. Wouldn't recommend getting this phone again

"Phone deteriorates over time." on by 6-5-5

Pros: Simple construction, easy to use.

Cons: Bulky, problems develop over time.

Summary: I've had this phone for about a year and a half. It is on the bulky side but other than that I was fine with it (it was free). I began to have problems with it about two months ago, I wasn't being notified of new voice mail. In the last week the phone has began to shut off, with a full battery. While pressing the receive button to answer calls the phone has just died: no sound, dead screen. I'm trading it in for a new model (also free but hopefully better).
