"Nokia Creates a Stylish, Near Perfect, Flip Phone!"
Pros: Camera, Video and Radio options.
Cons: Poor display, Over-complicated Menu
Summary: I was all set to purchase a Samsung phone when a T-mobile employee I befriended told me to wait awhile because they'd soon be carrying the new Nokia flip phone. It was stylish and packed with features so I figured I'd grab it when it came in and I'm glad I did. Great phone!
But of course, there are a few issues....
Antenna (?) - The phone is definitely stylish, but all the other new phones (read: Samsung phones) have internal antennas. I personally think the antenna doesn't take anything away from the overall sleekness of the phone, but I wonder what it would look like w/o it.
Screen Display (Con) - It's substandard, at best. I was leaning towards a Samsung purchase because their cell displays are sharp and clear. As soon as I turned on the Nokia I wanted to cry at the poor display. It practically looks hand drawn! The screen display on my old Motorola V300 is 10x's better, but I'm warming up to the Nokia.
Menu (Con) - I have to open 17 (obvious exaggeration, but you get the idea) different folders just to get to something basic! I used to say Nokias were the easiest phones to navigate until they changed it a couple years back. Still, that doesn't ruin it for me.
Battery (Pro) - Long-lasting, just as my old Nokia phones were.
Camera (Pro) - Pictures look grainy until you see the final product which is pretty darn clear. Good camera.
Video (Pro) - I've had the phone a week now and I've only used it twice, maybe, so I don't have too much to say about it. It is a bit fuzzy, though, but a good feature to have just in case.
Radio (Pro) - A definite plus! I owned a Motorola 3-4 years ago w/ this feature and even though it's not a necessity, it's kinda cool to know it's there.
Price (Pro) - I paid exactly $158.99. Based on the prices listed on this site and elsewhere, I think I got it for a steal through T-mobile.
Headset (Pro/Con) - Unlike a few of the other reviewers stated, my phone actually came with the headset needed to utilize the radio feature and also works during calls. Another drawback, though, is the earpiece is super-sensitive and you could probably hear my heart beat if I spoke to you while using it. It seriously picks up every individual sound! And because it's for the radio, there are 2 earbuds, but it looks a little weird when you're on a call and only using one w/ the other hanging. You can actually hear out of both earbuds when on a call, but would you want to? Gonna buy a "normal" one soon.
Phone Volume - Great by my standards and the speakerphone works well also.
Ringtones - The 7 included ringtones (yes, I counted) suck, for lack of a better word. But like another reviewer said, I guess that's to encourage you to download a few.
Display Options - The external display is big and bright and you can even change the font color or overall color scheme on both the internal and external displays or use a photo you snapped as wallpaper on either screen.
Overall - THIS IS A GREAT PHONE! No Bluetooth, but do you really need it? Go out and buy it today if you're looking for one of the newest, feature-crammed, affordable cell phones!
