"Another Great Nokia Phone"
Pros: Beautiful internal screen, Nokia quality and ease of use
Cons: Battery life!
Summary: I have always had Nokia phones and love them. I bought an unlocked 6102i last summer of Ebay and have used it for the last year. I just purchased this unlocked 6131 off Ebay and love it. Started making phone calls right away. Of course with all unlocked phones I spent the first several hours getting all of the internet, sms, email, gprs, etc. settings entered and working.
Anyway, the phone is great, the screen is beautiful. The construction of the phone seems excellent as well. I really like the rubber like exterior of this phone. Easy to grip. The button you use to open the phone is cool. Phone calls are crystal clear.
Now to the bad, as everyone reviewing a 6126/6131/6133 says, battery life is horrible so far. I charged the phone 3 times the first day. However I figure that was because I was playing with it so much and I am hoping that as I charge and discharge the battery will become conditioned and hold a charge for a day. I am not unreasonable and will gladly charge my phone each night. But this type of battery life it to be expected with this large clear nice screen.
Finally, a great phone for the money. I would definitely buy it again.
P.S. If anyone can advise if there is anyway to wake this phone up while it is closed. I have tried pushing the volume button and everything. What I am looking to do is be able to look at the phone in its closed position without hitting the button to pop it open. Not a big deal but I have to keep hitting the button to open it up to see if I have a signal. I am way out in the country right now and do lose signal from time to time on any phone. ThanksUpdated
Just wanted to ad some things. I did find out how to wake the phone up while it is closed. Just hit the power button. Problem solved.
Also I pulled a 1 year old battery out of my old 6102i and tried it in the 6131 and it did much better. Getting a whole day out of it now. I think I might have gotten a bad battery. I looked at the battery supplied with the 6131 and saw it was made in Hungary. The old battery from the 6102i was made in Japan. Of course the Japanese make better everything whether its cars, electronics, anything.
Also I failed to comment on the camera the first time. I have to tell you that this camera is great. Yeah it is a 1.3mp and most people don't think it is that great of a camera. But I guess since I was coming from a VGA with no zoom, I think the 6131 camera is fantastic. I am taking beautiful pictures provided proper lighting is there. Because of the micro SD I can now take many pics without running out of memory after 5 or 6 pics which is what happened on my 6102i so I had to start deleting things.
Anyway, great phone.Updated
Figured out how to wake the phone up while it was closed. Just hit the power button, problem solved.
Also tried an old 6102i battery and found I now only have to charge once a day. Seems like I may have gotten a bad battery.
Finally I forgot to comment on the 1.3 mp camera. Man when you are used to a VGA camera with no zoom, this camera is like a professional grade camera. I am taking some beautiful picures provided of course that there is enough light. Not to mention with SD storage I can take as many pics as I want without filling up the memory after 5 or 6 pics.
Very happy.
