"Best Reception of Any Verizon Phone" on by thedanielsfamily_VA
Pros: Exceptional clarity on both ends of the call
Cons: Cheap looking quality
Summary: If your main reason for using a cell phone is to make phone calls and crystal clear reception is a priority for you, then this is definitely the right phone for you. My wife and I both made separate trips to the local Verizon store, and we tested this phone against the LG VX8300 and the 8600 and the Motorola RAZRs and KRZRs. Yes, the other phones all look cooler and have better cameras and more features in general; however, the Nokia 6215i phone was much, much clearer and had less static than any of the other phones. The calls sounded better on both ends: for the Nokia cell phone caller and for the person who received the call. We called both landline numbers and other cell phones, and tested each phone one after the other and multiple times during our visits to the Verizon store.
We spent an inordinate amount of time on this process because we did not want to get stuck with bad service and phones ever again. We have been miserable customers of Cingular for 3+ years now, and we are in fact expending $600 to break our family plan contract with them 6 months early. It is completely pointless to have a cell phone if the reception for your calls is so poor most of the time that you can’t even carry on a conversation. I could not make calls from my Cingular phone from my office in downtown Arlington, VA despite the fact that everyone in the offices around me have no problems making calls with other carriers. I could not make phone calls from the Convention Center in Boston despite the fact that everyone around me was merrily chatting on their cell phones, etc., etc., etc.
I am sharing this experience in hopes of saving others a lot of time, aggravation and expense. If we had ordered our Nokias one day earlier from Verizon, we would have gotten the phones for free and paid no activation fee. Unfortunately, they changed their online offers overnight and we were out an additional $220 as a result. -
"cool but plain" on by davem90
Pros: sleek design, nice size, good key pad
Cons: attracts finger prints, small main screen
Summary: this is a good little phone, it's pretty basic, (no mp3 capability or bluetooth), but it's easy to navigate, has a nice exterior color screen, and is basically cheaper version of the motorola pebble. it has a 1.3 megapixel camera and good gaming as well. however, much like an iPod, it feels like a delicate work of art, and not something you really want to bang around. I just bought mine today, and my friends think it's cute, so I can't complain.

"Sleek, Sexy -- and Gets the job done!" on by Gry709
Pros: sleek, small!, NOT flimsy, text mess auto-erase, good speakerphone, great battery life, alarm
Cons: time limit for sound recordings, wallpaper doesn't fit screen, voicedial difficulty, camera quality, ringtone quality, battery alarm
Summary: I LOVE my phone! Why? Because it is DIFFERENT from everyone else's, didn't cost a fortune, and works great! It is so TINY and sexy; frankly I would be happy if it didn't work, but I was very pleased when it passed almost all my expectations!
other PROS:
text message auto-erase: no need to sort through / erase texts when the inbox gets full! you can set an option to auto-erase your oldest messages (with exception to the ones marked to save forever)
good speakerphone quality!: great for conversations
great battery life: I use it every day for alarms, general use (3-4 quick calls/day), texts, etc, and I only charge it once a week, if that!
alarm: very easily-navigated alarm menu! three alarm slots to set! (is this standard w Verizon though?)
CONS:
I use the sound recorder a LOT (mostly for driving directions). There is a FRUSTRATING 30-second limit!
the Wallpaper doesn't stretch up-and-down the entire screen! stupid Verizon menu-bars! AUGH!
VOICEDIAL is very difficult to use QUICKLY (takes 3-4 sec to bring up, then 2-3 sec to recognize contact's name) which completely defeats the purpose, except for it's good while driving.
the CAMERA isn't anything special quality-wise, but it works okay. I don't take any pictures regularly.
Ringtones can get distorted if you want them to be really loud, but sound fine at reasonable levels.
Though battery life is great overall, I never get much warning when the phone is about to die. It holds at two/three battery bars for DAYS, but then all-of-a-sudden will decrease/die within a few hours stand-by time or a couple minutes of talking. This could be solved if I just charged it when it showed half battery life, I guess. -
"good, but limited personalized options" on by starsonthars
Pros: small, light, good reception and screen
Cons: screensaver and speaker phone issues
Summary: this is definitely a cute phone. it works and seems to make sense. the problems are:
when you activate the speaker phone and then close the phone, the call ends. why can't you use the speaker phone with the phone closed? you can use the earpiece with the phone closed? having to keep it open while using the speakerphone is awkward. i keep wanting to close my phone, but not necessarily end the call...especially if on hold or listening to my msgs.
the other annoying quirk is that the screensaver comes on after about 5 seconds which is annoying and too soon. i've checked online and other people seem to have this same unsolvable problem as well.
the last annoyance is that you have to totally silence the phone in order to make the start up "verizon wireless" msg not play. it's embarrassing to turn the phone on even with the start up sound disabled and hear this little "verizon wireless" voice pipe up. if you can silence the start up sound, why can't you totally silence this part, too?
BUT, the phone was free with my plan and it does work better than my little tiny cingular phone. and the sound is good. it's a cute phone with a few annoying quirks that i'll probably get over just in time for my 2-year upgrade. -
"Nice look and feel but lacking in good sound quality" on by 10thattemptatusername
Pros: Nice look and navigation; feels good in your hand.
Cons: Very poor sound quality
Summary: I got this as my 'free' phone when I signed up with Verizon Wireless. I now know why they give this one away. It has a nice look and feel in the hand, but it lacks the one thing you absolutely need in a cell phone: good sound quality. When I set up my voicemail, the message sounded as if I was underwater. I did it three times in a very quiet environment and still the recording was poor. Also, callers told me that my voice did not sound as clear on the phone as it did on my previous phone (also a Nokia).
