"bad battery life, can't transfer ph numbers" on by regaljay

    Pros: ok camera, ok interface,

Cons: bad battery life, overheats, funky interface to USB. Maybe needs special Nokia cable, or Nokia software is so bad it can't connect except as USB storage. Generic cable from Ebay only works for photos/music. Won't connect as phone browser.

Summary: don't buy, except very cheap

"OK at first but will soon start dying while texting." on by DuhPrincesss

Pros: Easy to read display, nice features and accessories.

Cons: After a few months (and treating it with TLC) this phone starts to "die" while texting. We have 2 of these #6555's and they both did the same thing. Returned both under warranty and received "refurbished" models and one of those had terrible static.

Summary: Do NOT buy this phone. 2 friends of mine also have this exact model with the same problems we had. So far, that's 5 of these phones that are defective or every one I have personally seen. We didn't even mind the kinda lame battery life but our phones simply stopped working without any damage or abuse and with fully charged batteries. They looked like new when they failed--even with the easy to scratch surface. My husband's basic Nokia has been more reliable yet has a harder to read display.

"Do NOT BUY -- STAY AWAY!" on by chooch331

Pros: Absolutely nothing execpt for the fact that it can function as a cell phone when needed (assuming the battery isn't dead) and sometimes as a MP3 player.

Cons: Battery life is totally unacceptable. Using the phone as a MP3 player causes it to randomly lock up and there are no software updates available. Sound is low. Phone scratches easily.

Summary: I have had Nokia phones in the past and bought this one to replace a lost Nokia 6102i. This is the only cell phone that I've ever owned where I've had to always carry a charger with me. Replacing the battery does no good and I tried all the so-called "tricks" to lenghten battery life.

The built-in camera takes lousy pictures.

I thought it was nice to have an MP3 player built in but the software that runs it is buggy -- I've had it crash in mid-song with all sorts of odd software error messages like "Pointer not found." What's worse, the phone will sometimes recover from a MP3 player lockup and you can make calls but anybody trying to call you will go right to voicemail and you'll never know it as the phone won't ring.

Sound quality is not so hot and the high volume setting is still low compared to other phones.

This is a piece of junk. Sadly, Nokia refuses to admit to it. I can't wait until June when I can upgrade -- and this phone is probably the only one of those twelve that will meet a crushing demise with a large hammer. I've had 12 cell phones in my life and this is the worst of the worst.

"Seemingly great phone but has a major problem" on by bennyadamo

Pros: This could be a 4 or 5 star rating. A lot of features for a phone, as opposed to a PDA. There is a shortcut for every function, so you can set it up so that you don't have to navigate through endless menus to get to your most commonly used functions.

Cons: This phone has a software bug (I was told so by my carrier). Which is, the phone just turns itself off ALL THE TIME. Then it would take forever to turn back on while it would load, boot up or whatever. MAJOR pain in the @$$. Blech.

Summary: The phone itself would be great, if Nokia ever fixes the software problem. However I'm done with it. AT&T kept exchanging the defective phones for brand new ones at no charge but I'd have the same exact problem with each new phone. I thought they would have identified and rectified the problem in the 9 months since I bought my first one, but no dice. AT&T finally let me exchange it for an entirely different phone since it was a defect in the design. Unfortunately I cannot recommend that anyone buy this phone.
