  • "The last Nokia phone I buy. A terrible experience."
    on by gurtnamona

Pros Its small. The thread based approach to the "habitat" start screen makes it easy to view all correspondence with another person (phone calls & texts, to and from)

Cons unreliable bluetooth support. sluggish response to button presses. poorly thought out user interface. incredibly fragile charging connector.

Summary I feel insulted by how poorly Nokia designed this phone. Both the hardware and software design is so poorly done, that I cannot imagine that product development ever took this phone seriously. I want few simple things from a phone other than something that makes and receives phone calls: a reliable alarm and bluetooth connection. The alarm was at first an annoyance. If the ringer is on vibrate (which is where I often need it) then the alarm is on vibrate (which I never need). Other phone designers were thoughtful enough to understand this user scenario and specify the user interface appropriately. When disabling the alarm then exiting the alarm menu, the phone automatically asks if you want to enable the alarm, ("no, the only reason I entered the menu was to disable the alarm"). Finally, touching the soft buttons on the surface of the phone automatically dismissed the alarm; not sleep. How likely is it that this occurs by mistake in the morning, in the dark? As for the bluetooth, it connected to my headset or my car system maybe 50% successfully. Often times I would have to reboot the phone (or the car) before audio would route properly. Sometimes audio was routed to nevernever land; not on the phone, not on the bluetooth device. The last straw was the mini-usb as the charging connection. After only 6 months of charging the phone, the connector became more and more loose. First it would make the audible "charger connected" then "charger disconnected" beeping continuously throughout the night (I couldn't mute this beep because that would mute the alarm!!) Then it stopped charging completely. My phone now has no juice and no method of getting it any. The greatest satisfaction that this phone will give me is when I now take a hammer to it!

  • "Don't waste you time or money with this phone"
    on by ebolak

Pros light weight Habitat mode was nice

Cons Charger plug defects, I had to get two replaced with in a month I bought it when it was first released talked to a rep for Nokia at a store and he swore it wasn't a problem. Had my 3rd phone for about 8 months and the charger port just died

Summary Charger port defects, multiple phones

  • "Have 2, both broke within months!!!"
    on by TheBlades7

Pros Like the habitat setting and graphics, thats about it!

Cons Pretty, but cheap piece of junk. Within a few months neither of my two worked correctly. The charger port rips right out of the phone way too easily just from normal unplugging. Call quality/earpeice is very poor quality, low volume and scratchy.

Summary First the charging ports were loose on both and would not charge unless you sit there and hold it in place and would go nuts beeping and it would kill the battery from all the beeping and you could not get a charge. This happened within a couple months of buying them. Then the port just came out of the phone stuck on the end of the charger and it was done from there, would not charge at all. Took to a Verizon store and the staff tried to blame us saying we must have tried to plug is some game plug or wrong cord!!! Then I google the issue and see tons of others are having the same issue! When the charging port comes out you can see all that was holding it in there was a couple flimsy sodiers. They sell a replacement part for super cheap in europe that you can do yourself but not here! (wonder why!?!?)
Call quality stinks, is quiet, scratchy, low quality. The microphone on one is so quiet no one can hear me when I call them and I have to scream every single phone call. I will never be buying a nokia again. Definitely not worth $300 it retails for! We are taking them to the verizon headquarters next, we will see if they give us problems about repairing it too but in the mean time I have no working phones, both went at the same time!

  • "Elegant and beautiful, but disappointing."
    on by spassmeister

Pros The small size and elegant design was the reason that I was drawn to this phone. I don't really use the on-screen text messaging, but it is a nice feature. The RF performance seemed the same as my other handsets

Cons Flakey, fragile micro-USB connector ruined this phone for me. It started bad and got worse. So did the phone I replaced it with (another 7205) There were a few keys that were hard to press too.

Summary The thing is, I really like this phone and it's annoying that this basic simple stuff (charging, keys) has undermined what is a really nice phone.

  • "Crap Crap Crap"
    on by colorado_gal

Pros It is pretty and sleek. Fits in pocket well.

Cons It falls out of pocket easily, even while in a container. Scratches easily.

Summary I am on my 4th one in 8 months! I leave it in my purse except to charge it and it broke again. Now the screen is falling off. I don't do anything with the phone except call people and put it back in my purse.

Don't buy unless you like to fix broken phones all the time and hang out at Verizon while they order you the same one since they quit making them.
