"IT'S EASY TO USE, I SWEAR!!" on by areschang
Pros: VERY user friendly, good ear&mouth-piece volume
Cons: not recognized by many carriers/providers, expensive
Summary: USER-FRIENDLY
Contrary to what you probably have read, text messaging is not an issue. With Nokia's predictive text, I actually text faster than samsung/motorola/lg/etc phone users.
Most features are voice activated if you choose them to be. I say "missed calls" and it shows me my missed calls log; I say "silent" and the phone goes into silent/vibrate mode.
LONG SET-UP
It might take a while to get all your numbers entered (unless you import it directly from your SIM card, which is an option) but, once you set the phone up, you won't miss that keypad at all.
COMPATIBILITY
This phone only works with T-mobile & Cingular. Even though AT&T has merged with Cingular, this phone will not work with an AT&T SIM card. I promise you. I had to switch.
I used to have Yahoo! send alerts to my phone when I received emails, but it doesn't work now. It may be due to the Cingular-AT&T switch, though. I also can't buy ringtones online because most do not recognize this phone. I haven't found a way around that (I tried to enter my phone as another Nokia model, but that doesn't work). But text messaging works and so does AIM. So I blame this on Cingular, not Nokia. But there is a vast array of ringtones already included in this phone and the tone/sound quality will amaze you. I've never heard anything like it.
RANDOM WHINING
I wish Nokia had a spin dial like the iPod instead of this analog one. The rubber pad is rubbing off.
The vibrating alert isn't as prevalent as it usually is in Nokias. But I'm spoiled. This phone replaced a Motorola V600 which had an equally weak vibrating alert. SO I guess it's not really a con.
Lastly, Nokia needs to make a phone cover that let's you see the screen. I'm half-contemplating cutting my current cover. -
"Cool style outweighs functional issues" on by adambravo
Pros: Slick looks get attention; good sound; great speakerphone; nice display; decent camera; doesn't use proprietary Nokia headset plug
Cons: No keypad; so-so battery life; slightly odd ergonomics
Summary: A few weeks back, I had dinner with a friend in NYC who had one of these--the first chance I had to see it live. Since it ran on Cingular, and I'm on ATTWireless--and I was willing to give up some functionality for style (I used to own a Samsung Matrix phone)--I hunted around on eBay until I found an unlocked one at a good price ($400). Here are my observations:
- I swapped my SIMcard in as soon as I got it; it powered up and functioned without incident--except for the web browser. Two thumbs up to the excellent help from Nokia tech support (Cingular did nothing) for getting me completely on line.
- Fairly comfortable to use; a little thick, but narrow profile goes into a pocket without much of a problem. If it's warm outside, the mirrored screen will pick up a bit of sweat from sitting next to your ear while you're on the phone.
- Once you program the voicedailing, it's pretty easy to use; I have ATT's voicecommand system (well worth it), so most of my names are are online, and it also does great number recognition. Voice dailing recognition is much better than the Siemens SL56 I was using.
- As already noted, text messaging is pretty easy with the predictive text input.
- Camera works great, at least during the day.
- Screen reverting to a mirror sounds cool, but also means that the display is practically invisible outdoors.
- Came loaded with some cool sounds and graphics (although I have no idea what's 'standard' and what was loaded by the previous owner.
- Call quality and sound quality are both very good, as is the speakerphone
- Two bugs at the moment: the ringer starts medium and gets louder (despite my setting it otherwise) and the alarm clock only vibrates (again, I think I have the volume on high)
If it weren't for the fact my workplace currently prohibits cameraphones, I'd probably use it all the time; as it stands now, the card swapping is fairly easy. I'll be back if there are any big hiccups...

"Good Phone if you want anything else get a different model" on by pkarirose
Pros: Love it its small enough to fit in my pocket
Cons: Don't use if your a text nut
Summary: Love its size fits in my pocket my bag. Good phone radio is good great camera. If you want to surf the net get another phone. Ditto with text.
Will be keeping this when I buy the 6680Updated
yes the display is small and the keypad is hard to see take some time to use it and as for new numbers get others to send you their numbers as a business card via infrared or bluetooth no cost and the scroll function and predictive letter text is quick once you get used to it. I hate texting so this doesn't bother me and everyone who texts me knows I'll ring them back anyway its cheaper for me. -
