"IT'S EASY TO USE, I SWEAR!!"

by areschang on July 13, 2005

Pros: VERY user friendly, good ear&mouth-piece volume

Cons: not recognized by many carriers/providers, expensive

    Summary: USER-FRIENDLY
Contrary to what you probably have read, text messaging is not an issue. With Nokia's predictive text, I actually text faster than samsung/motorola/lg/etc phone users.

Most features are voice activated if you choose them to be. I say "missed calls" and it shows me my missed calls log; I say "silent" and the phone goes into silent/vibrate mode.

    LONG SET-UP
It might take a while to get all your numbers entered (unless you import it directly from your SIM card, which is an option) but, once you set the phone up, you won't miss that keypad at all.

    COMPATIBILITY
This phone only works with T-mobile & Cingular. Even though AT&T has merged with Cingular, this phone will not work with an AT&T SIM card. I promise you. I had to switch.

I used to have Yahoo! send alerts to my phone when I received emails, but it doesn't work now. It may be due to the Cingular-AT&T switch, though. I also can't buy ringtones online because most do not recognize this phone. I haven't found a way around that (I tried to enter my phone as another Nokia model, but that doesn't work). But text messaging works and so does AIM. So I blame this on Cingular, not Nokia. But there is a vast array of ringtones already included in this phone and the tone/sound quality will amaze you. I've never heard anything like it.

    RANDOM WHINING
I wish Nokia had a spin dial like the iPod instead of this analog one. The rubber pad is rubbing off.

The vibrating alert isn't as prevalent as it usually is in Nokias. But I'm spoiled. This phone replaced a Motorola V600 which had an equally weak vibrating alert. SO I guess it's not really a con.

Lastly, Nokia needs to make a phone cover that let's you see the screen. I'm half-contemplating cutting my current cover.
