"A real review for this phone-United States"
Pros: voice calling,small, cool looking, who would guess it's a phone, great job Nokia!
Cons: perhaps texting, downloading photos, nonremoveable battery
Summary: I read a lot of reviews out there on this phone before I bought it. Most of the reviews were from Europe. This phone is working great. I use Cingular in Colorado. The voice commands are awesome, it is basically 1 touch calling after you set it all up. I usually only call 2-3 numbers on a regular basis, so dialing from the wheel is a rarity for me. Reception is clear. I don't text, so that is not an issue for me, but it does do a good job prediciting the next letter.
I love that it does not look like a phone. I work in a hospital and different departments call while I am in patients room. It is nice to glance at the phone and excuse myself if needed. Patients and families do not know if it is a phone or a medical device! I work in a newer hospital and cell phones are not prohibited.
I was worried about the 1900 GSM fequency, but that does not seem to be a problem. I have kept my other nokia candy bar phone as my back up while traveling (for the 850 GSM). I just pop in the SIM card and away you go.
I have not tried the camera, but it seems easy enough to do. The radio works fine. I use this phone as a phone, not with all the other toys, and for that it is great.
The battery life was a concern, but so far it is holding up well. I switched the "lights" to off, and that saves power. I also use the key lock so it doesn't come on standby in my pocket or purse until I use it. That helps on the battery power too.
It has all the user friendly Nokia menu screens, so navigating with the spinner is a breeze. It really only took maybe 5 minutes to get use to the buttons and the rest was like riding a bike for all of us Nokia users.
Thanks Nokia for giving us a great option to the typical cellphone. It could really take off in the US market if the 850 GSM were added and media centers were a little more US friendly. The US is just behind the rest of the world in its wireless technology/access though.
