"Worth Every Penny!" on by kneman1

Pros: Small, sturdy, screen clarity, easy open and close, design

    Cons: Keys too small

Summary: i have been reading the reviews on this phone and the reviews are terrible. People complaing about price. The one thing you should understand is that anyone who spends 700-1000$ on a phone doesn't care. Now to the phone itself. I think everything about the phone is perfect except for the keys. The keys are terrible way too small. Especially the 0. But the keys are still bearable. I owned a razr v3 before this and I have to say that the phone feels great in your hand when you answer. Much more comfortable to hold. The steel case is good and not to heavy. The size is perfect. The screen does get alot of finger prints as well as the stell case. I do have 1 important thing to say is that NOKIA is a great company support wise. They have a dedicated number just for the 8800-8801 phones. Its a 2 year replacement guarantee and not with a refurbished one. The customer service rep told me the replacement phones they give are all brand new. Now I have owned motorola phone for a long time and I have to say their service SUCKS compared to this. They should take notes from NOKIA. If money is not the issue then this is a definite buy. If money is you shouldn't be reading this review. The phone is not for you.

"Spending your dollar buying a worthless shiny penny" on by ho_trung

Pros: Look superb and impress a lot of my friends

Cons: 8801 works only in US and Canada and the 8800 works world wide but not supported in US. Battery life is the worst I ever seen on a phone & sound quality is really bad.

Summary: I’ve own the 8801 for a month and it a big deception to find out that my $700 Nokia won’t work in Asia or Europe because it does not have the 900 band. I call Nokia to express my concern and they told me that I can buy the 8800 witch will work any where but it is not supported or warranty in US. I finally decided to return it and buy a Motorola Razr v3 even though I’ve always owned a Nokia till now. I think the 8801 or 8800 is a big flashy joke that has drove me away from the brand.

I would advise nobody to buy this phone unless you need to let your neighbors know that you own a $700 phone. Don’t be fooled by the appearances because you’ll be spending your dollar buying a worthless *****. I had waited a while for that phone but what a deception.

"This Phone Is All Class" on by classgeek

Pros: A masterpiece of art work, quality of sound, all you need if you want a phone.

Cons: Hard to open battery compartment on mine, fingerprints.

Summary: I have owned this phone for 5 months. I would not swap it for any other phone on the market. I hope it lasts forever.
My purpose for having a cell phone is to make phone calls, period. It does that job the way I want it to - easily, quickly and with great sound quality.
I can afford any cell phone available and I wouldn't swap this phone for the ones that cost several times the price. It is simply the best looking, classiest one out there.

    "Classy Phone" on by elysseus

Pros: Gorgeous looks, very responsible UI

    Cons: Keys small, volume tricky

Summary: First off, 99% of the people who write negative reviews of this phone do not even own it. I would say that most of them are actually jealous and wish they could own it. They are the type of people who ask, "Why buy a Ferrari when you could get more features and better fuel mileage with a Honda Accord?" Likewise, there really is no point in trying to explain this phone's allure to these folks. People who actually buy this phone are those who appreciate a phone that's exclusive (expensive enough to prevent everyone from buying it), gorgeous, pretty well built considering the numerous features (FM radio and music player being a few), and who are willing to cough up the bucks required to own this beauty. I would say that the keys are rather small... classic example of form over feature. Changing the call volume wasn't mentioned at all in the User's Guide... which I thought was rather dumb. I had to look this issue up on the web... but once I figured out how to change the volume, it was pretty easy. Overall, an awesome phone... will definitely be a highly sought-after item when these phones are no longer made... just like the old Corvettes, Ferraris, and Lambos. Kudos to my fellow 8800'ers!

"8800 is sheek but way overpriced" on by diggler42

Pros: Overall appearence is cool; sleek and different

Cons: Costs $20.00 to make and sells for $750.00...ouch

Summary: Seriously, who pays this kind of money for a cell phone let alone this one. This is no better than the Moto Razr which sells for less that half of this one. Only the rich kids of over the top business career men and woman will buy this phone.

Don't get wrong, I love Nokia but this phone is simply wwwwwway over priced. It's like PT Barnum said, "there's a sucker born every minute". Well, he must of been talking about those that buy this phone because you know it cost dollars to make. Wouldn't we all like to take home a profit margin like that.
