"The RAZR just can't cut it next to this thing" on by TrackStar1682

    Pros: Music, slider, AMAZING screen

Cons: Doesn't support iTunes DRM? I don't know!

Summary: I was looking at getting myself a Motorola Razr V3t for the longest time. Then I saw this phone, and compared the two side by side, and that's when the super sharp *looking* Razr seemed more like a dull butter knife.

This phone has ALL sorts of goodies.
    -Slider
    -MP3 Player
-1.3 MP digital camera (Was NOT a selling point for me)
-1 GB Micro SD memory card
    -5 MB Onboard Memory
-Bluetooth for data transfer, headset use, and music playback
-Speaker for both phone and music player
    -Great USB connectivity
    -ONE HELL OF A SCREEN!!!

The editor's review points it out that the Micro SD memory card slot is located in an inconvenient place, but honestly, after seeing somebody lose a much larger regular SD card and then comb around in grass for an hour trying to find it, I'm thankful for that "inconvenient" (more like secure) location. With the 1 GB card that came with it, I don't think I'll be pulling it out anytime soon, anyway. The MP3 player feature is flat out excellent. I love the fact that the speaker also works for music playback when you don't feel like using earphones, but it does also come with a stereo plug in headset, and it supports bluetooth headsets, headphones, and bluetooth speakers (something the Razr definitely won't do). The software like somebody else said, leaves a lot to be desired and it's definitely not the easiest to use, but a simple drag n drop works fine. Reception seems excellent thus far, also.

As far as customization goes, it's the best I've ever seen. Adding photos for showing off, wallpaper, and caller ID's is simple and works very well.

All of this is great, but by far the best thing about this phone is THE SCREEN!!! The screen is very very nice, has super rich colors and is amazingly clear. Possibly the best screen I've seen for any phone, and honestly, nicer than some notebook screens, too, albeit smaller.

The digital camera was not a selling point at all for me seeing that I don't expect to be using it (I'd rather use my regular camera) but the pictures look reasonably nice, considering.

If you're thinking of getting the Razr and you're anything short of a Motorola employee, take a good look at this. It's $100 well spent. (I got mine from T-Mobile)

"Piece of junk" on by tgpc

    Pros: Looks nice

    Cons: It won't last

Summary: I bought this phone because it was a Nokia and they have a reputation for quality - was I ever wrong! Between my two daughters we've had 3 of these and the screen has failed on all of them. Also, be aware that the customer service robots at T-Mobile will not replace the phone when the screen fails - they say it has been damaged and of course there is no way that you can win when they have the phone. This phone will break on you so do yourself a favor and get an Ipod for your music and a real phone for your calls and texting.

The CNET editors may think this phone is great but I'd like to see them keep it for a 2 year contract and see if it was still so fine.

"A fun and intuitive phone that is really just neat!" on by slapper27

Pros: The music and camera controls, menus, 1GB mini SD, radio

Cons: Carrying case options, settings menu can be difficult for those who are not used to Nokia

Summary: I have had my phone for about a month now and have not experienced any of the issues reported in the negative reviews. I find the phone to be quite durable and I have not had any issue with regard to call volume (not being able to hear people during calls). I think most people are just deaf nowadays. I love the fact that it can sync music with whatever the media player that is installed on your pc; sort of like an mp3 player you can make calls with. I am not big on texting or IM, but I can see where this might be difficult for those who are. Easy to fat-finger when trying to write; I experienced that when I was trying to save a contact. The phone is really just a blast and it works fabulously for what it was designed for and that is a handheld media device. Maybe the folks who are so disappointed got a bad batch of phones, but I am digging it a bunch. I am waiting to see how long it takes my phone to become brown as most whites phones evetually do.

"Nice small phone, great options but I can't hear anyone." on by ldelsesto

Pros: Great options - excellent music player

Cons: Terrible sound quality if there is ANY outside noise

Summary: I purchased my phone based on the user reviews and review from CNET. CNET stated that "We felt the volume could be a bit higher; it was a little harder to understand conversations in noisier environments." That, for me, was a gross understatement. I'm not able to hear ANYONE, including voicemails if there is ANY outside noise - including driving in the car. Restaurants - forget it. I don't even bother or have to go to a quieter location. What good are all the bells and whistles when its main function is a major disappointment. I'll be trading in the phone.

    "Very happy" on by nathanlyons

    Pros: Music capabilities

    Cons: Design flaws

Summary: This is my first slider, leaps and bounds beyond my previous favorite (V360) for it's music capabilities, but not as durable as one might think. The rubberized controls make it easy to navigate by feel, even while nestled in your pocket, but I've broken the headphone jack and the speaker is distorted and unpredictable (sometimes it works, sometomes not). The headphone jack is my biggest concern. I successfully used this phone in place of a dedicated media player for some time (since it first hit Amrican shores) and it seems to me that a phone that has a very obvious purpose, besides calling people, would have a sturdier adapter for a headphone jack, if not a dedicated 3.5mm to begin with. Nokia: if you can read this, give me a call, I love what you're doing, but I think you can do it better.
