"No complaints for price class; excellent basic choice."
Pros: Clear display, larger buttons (for older eyes), as intuitive as any cell phone, excellent camera image capture for lens size, sensitive microphone, doubles as flash storage media (as do more expensive phones), and the business-like deep gray casing.
Cons: Reports of muddy sounding calls are true, but no calls have been unintelligible; a workaround is to adjust the angle of the phone so as to point the sound directly into one's ear canal. Learning curve for menu system; but this is a universal problem
Summary: I've read some complaints about the joystick, but it seems fairly natural to me. Learning the soft keys takes some time; it took me a while and some study to figure out how to turn on the speakerphone. The manual is less than perfect, but the good news is you probably can get the basic functions working without it. Bluetooth association and file transfer were no problem, and the user has control of whether the Bluetooth is on or off; good for security and power saving. I have no complaints about the battery life that some have reported; and the unit charges quickly. Web browsing with the 3G capability keeps the text at a readable size, but not the whole page for sites not designed for mobile devices; still scrollable and usable with clear graphics rendering. I've imported my own ringtone (from a file I created myself), and a graphic of choice for my wallpaper; set those early on with little reference to the manual needed. I've used the Alarm, and Calendar with alarm; works fine. Set speed dial numbers, and I like the Options shortcuts to the features I use the most. I am not only satisfied but am happy with my choice.

What kind of plan is required to have access to full functionality on this phone? Does it need a data plan? GPS Plan?
