Pros -Camera is nice
-Display is crisp
-Favorites are easy to access
Cons -Touchscreen lags
-Texting in T9 is horrendous
-Texting on the horizontal view is terrible as well
-Can't change the menu from being the main focal point (I'll explain)
Summary I just upgraded this phone today from my LG Cosmos (second worse phone I've ever had). Within two hours I went online and ordered a new and completely different phone. The first thing I noticed right away is once you unlock the phone the menu doesn't disappear. You don't have a home screen with your own picture unless you're looking at the screen before you unlock the phone. I hate that because to me the screen looks cluttered with icons I'll never use.
The second thing I noticed right off the bat is I started calling people immediately. I try to do anything and the phone just went crazy. That could be because I'm not used to a touchscreen, but it definitely put me in a negative mood.
Then, the worst thing I have encountered was the touch screen texting. When I try to text in T9 and type "I" it automatically puts "G". In order to switch to other words that you want you have to click and look down the list to find your word. What happened to having the next button like on old phones? Texting with the full QWERTY keyboard was less than impressive. I text fast and it wouldn't read the letters I pressed unless I slowed down. And the buttons are so small on the screen it often misreads what you type. This phone is worse to text on than my Cosmos that had a broken keyboard. I'm serious. I've never been less impressed with a phone than I have with the Hotshot.
I also hate how thin it is. It's so thin and light that it feels like if I drop it it's going to shatter into a million pieces. Call me old fashioned but I like it when my phone feels durable. I like it when my phone actually has button control too. Voice commands button is annoying and I always accidentally hit it. There's also no back button. The button on the front will take you all the way back to the main screen.
I was also less than impressed with the quality of the call. You can understand what the other person is saying but I would think that for a phone this new it would have better call quality.
The few good things I will say about the phone is the picture quality is good, and I like how you can record videos although I haven't used the feature yet. The pictures I transferred from my old phone are crisp. The phone came with a 2mg card, which I'll be able to use in my new phone.
Honestly I would never recommend this phone to anyone. My opinion on touch screen is greatly lowered. I'm 19, I consider myself technologically aware and I know that this phone isn't worth anyone's time. If you're a heavy texter go for something else. If you want a touchscreen that looks flashy but doesn't conveniently do anything, here's your phone.
Pros Not much as a phone.
Cons Does not work period. Calls and texts are constantly delayed or missed. Most frustrating phone to have.
Summary Can't seem to answer the calls before it goes to voicemail (it's not the setting), or it doesn't even ring and then dings to let you know you missed the call. Missed texts has no way to let you know except that your family/friends get miffed. Voicemail, missed call notice, and texts are delayed anywhere between minutes up to a day. If I'm in a building, might as well turn it off, it's just a paperweight.
It has such a weak receptor that it is constantly searching for a signal (I live in an area with not enough cell towers but I've had multitude of phones that were better). And since it is constantly searching for wifi, I think it must be the reason why it is always out of battery. Or else, it has lousy battery (bought it new).
Key touch is either too sensitive or non-responsive at random. Camera does take decent pictures when the light is right and the distance is within range. Calendar and contact list store info just fine and calculator works if you can punch in the numbers right. Songs play tinny and glitch, so that's pretty much useless.
Not using it for games or internet connection, but if it can't handle phone calls or texts, but it can't be worth trying internet connection.
Do NOT get this phone if you can help it!
Pros Extremely light
3.5 mm audio jack
Cons Extremely slow
The only apps you can download are from the awful Verison store
Texting is impossible
Data is expensive, might as well get a smartphone
Changing volume is difficult
Summary This phone is horrible. Do not buy it. As soon as my plan runs out I will get rid of it. It runs on slow software that is extremely unresponsive. My microwave is faster than this hunk of junk. Everything you can download, music, videos, apps, everything, is at least five times more expensive than on the App Store or the Android Market. I hate it and everyone about it. Do not buy it.
Pros Simple, cute looking, easy to use, practical and the sound quality while you talk on the phone is excellent.
Cons A little slow while texting, you can make a few mistakes frequently. But it's not too bad.
Summary Pretty good phone. Nothing spectacular but none of verizon's basic phones are. It's simple so that's great and easy to make a call. Only complaint is that it's a little annoying to text because the touch response isn't amazing, but it really isn't anything that bad. I've had much worse phones than this one. Aka the Kin One phone... Not for people who like smart phones.
memory card included
no data plan needed
Good battery life
Cons -doesn't respond to cold fingers
-no way to lock screen-other than wait it out(30-40 seconds?)
Summary I have the Hotshot for 2 wks. I got it to replace LG Chocolate 2. My battery was running out & phone was starting to slow down. I call, text, take photos, listen to a little music. I'm satisfied with the Hotshot. It's not a smartphone, but I wasn't looking for one. I don't want to increase my monthly bill with a data pkg.
I did a bit of "butt-dialing" with phone in jeans front pocket. my fingers are sometimes too cold to register as a touch, but my thigh makes random calls! But a case should solve that problem.
