The Bottom Line While the Verizon Wireless PN-300 won't wow anyone with its design or feature set, we really liked its simplicity and ease of use. The great sound quality makes this a good phone for those who just want a phone to make calls. The Samsung Knack SCH-U310 is one of the best basic phones on the market. If you need a handset for making calls, you can't go wrong. Though not the flashiest handset on the market, the Verizon Wireless PN-820 offers mobile professionals a decent-performing Windows Mobile smart phone in a functional flip phone design. The Samsung Smooth is a basic-looking, budget-friendly phone with some compelling extras--it's a good option for Verizon customers who don't want to extend their contracts just to get a reasonable price on a new handset. The LG VX5500 is a basic and affordable camera phone with decent performance.
