"Don't let the other reviews fool you!"
Pros: Does everything you would expect a cell phone to, and much more. Despite what many are saying, it is possible to put your own custom ringtones on the delve, and yes for the alltel version.
Cons: e-mail is lacking on this phone. ringer is not as loud, i find the ascending ringtone to be annoying.
Summary: Many are not able to properly put ringtones on their phones, because yes, alltel does want you to purchase ringtones from them, but it is actually quite simple. If you want directions for that email me at bayside21@gmail.com, I'll be quite happy to help you out.
This is a great phone, but I wouldn't say its a great smart phone. Because of not having a common operation system, for example windows mobile, there is not a lot of add on applications that you can run on it. I find the lacking of wifi support disappointing, and the lack of IM capabilities.
All in all, I text a lot, i text about 4000 texts a month, and with that use, i find the battery to last me about a day and a half with no charging. I just wish the calander and email utilties were a little bit more powerful. The built in web browser is extremely hard to used, compared to safari, opera, or windows explorer on other devices.
Previous phones taht I have had are Moto Razr, Moto Q, Moto Q9C, RIM Blackberry Pearl, RIM Blackberry world edition.
Updated on Apr 20, 2009Now that I've had this phone for 3.5 months, I've decided to write an update. I've been very pleased that the phone is still considered one of the smaller more light weight touch screen phone on the market. I've dropped it a few times now and I've been surprised that the phone still looks flawless, and the screen is still perfect. I wish my other electronics were like this, dropped my old ipod on the same kind of surface and the LCD was cracked.
The battery life is still satisfactory, I send and receive about 250 texts a day, and probably use about an hour of talk on it, and its got plenty of juice from when I unplug it around 7:30a.m. and plug it in to charge at 1:00 a.m. the next morning. This phone has a fast charge time of only 2.5 to 3 hours.
The ringer is still not as loud as i like, and the phone itself cannot run very many applications. The web browser is good at viewing sites, however almost impossible to use google maps for directions. Just not powerful enough.

I wrote that in my review as well!! I can't stand the ascending ringer!! Wish I could change that!

Its tough to choose between this and the blackberry pearl. If your main concern is with the internet, although the delve's browser is not that powerful, it has a few advantages over the pearl. Bigger screens almost always mean easier web browsing. The delve will not be able to offer you all those applications that you can run on your pearl. The pearl is a pretty powerful phone, however I would recommend that you upgrade to the blackberry curve as it has been dropping in price.

True about the ascending ringer, I do wish it would be LOUD right off the bat! Forgot that in my review.
