"One of the best smartphones for 2010" on by KoolaidForYou
Pros: 1. Sprint's data plan $69. 2. 4g phone (If you are in the coverage areas) 3. Android OS, the best OS on the market today. That is if you want to use your phone for the first primary reason to use a smartphone, Organization!
Cons: 4g coverage is not everywhere so if you are in one of the non-4g areas, you will be paying an extra $10 per month for nothing, BUT you are still saving $50 plus dollars a month compared to At&t or Verizon.
Summary: The bottom-line is this is one of the best smartphones on the market with a company that saves you money during these hard times. Nicole Lee comment on "The Bad" (The Samsung Epic 4G is the bulkiest of the Galaxy S phones and also the priciest. It also requires a costly data plan.) is just NOT FAIR at ALL! bulkiest compared to other Galaxy S phones that don't have slide out keyboard? Why not compare it to other phones with slide out keyboards like the Motorola Droid! And the "priciest" part again is WRONG, so you pay what... and extra $50 but end of saving $1,200 in the price plan because your on Sprint instead of Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Don't drink the Koolaid, do some of your own research, because you will find out that CNET is not always right. They are they best and I look to them all the time, but they are human. I have the HTC EVO and I love it! And I looked at enough reviews on this phone, to know that it going to be a WINNER. I have been on VZW and ATT before and what I have found out is... THEY ALL ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, an "utility company"! Have NO loyalty to companies, have loyalty to GREAT Product at fair prices. That what you get if you buy this phone or the HTC EVO. Droid & iPhone are GREAT phones, it just that they don't have a big enough difference to make a difference... if you know what I mean. Put your concern on the PLAN and COVERAGE... that what really matters. I'm LOVING Sprint right now because I am saving a total of $1,800 a year because I can got rid of my iPhone (which is more of an entertainment phone, that an organization phone) ($140 per month) and my Comcast internet ($80 per month). Think about what you can do with ALL that extra cash and HAVE one of the best smartphone ever made!

If you want the best Android phones in the market, the Evo and Epic are it! Sprint's service and reception have surprised me in a good way. Hopefully 4G will be available in all areas. Look for LG to compete with the big boys in 2011. They will have a dual-core Android phone out soon.

Like your review - I'm wanting to upgrade now. Currently a Verizon customer and considering the Droid Incredible or the new Droid 2 Global that just came out today. Checked out Sprint for the first time since my brother just went to it and I was surprised at the differences in cost. I'm confused about your Comcast comment though - what do you mean you are saving on internet service? I'm sick of Comcast owning me and would love to get rid of them.

oh yeah mattkarnes metropcs had a better plan, $40 dollars a month with no taxes and fees, and unlimited tak text and web. i know metropcs coverage and customer service is ****, but the price is cheaper

I read this and it seems like you didn't even use the phone at all, because you not talking about its features at all, and comcast is not 80$ per month. And you save only 50$ if you have the unlimited plan, will you save at all if you choose the cheapest plan? Maybe a small bit, this will be helpful if you actually use it.
PS:the phone is bulkier than other physical keyboard phones. -
I work for sprint and the extra $10 is not for 4G coverage. The phone will automatically switch from the 3G to the 4G network when the 4G network is available. The extra $10 is for a PREMIUM data plan because it is such an advanced smart phone that in my opinion leaves the iPhone and other smart phones in the dust. It uses so much data from the internet that sprint requires a $10 data charge just like Verizon and AT&T do, except Sprint’s is the cheapest. It is the Ferrari of smart phones; you put high octane fuel in a Ferrari and not basic unleaded gas. Same goes for this phone; you put the extra pay into it to get the best performance. Ya it is expensive, but look what you're paying for, and no it doesn't require a costly data plan. Sprint has the best UNLIMITED data plan of any other cell phone company. Check out what other phone companies offer for UNLIMITED data plans and you'll see that Sprint offers the best plan.

This review reads like a press release. Serious potential buyers should look at the Epic sections two major Android Forums: androidcentral and androidforums. Users are consistently reporting Epic has had several major Galaxy features removed, and the GPS is coming up very short despite Samsung's claims.

this review or rant) is the worst of the bunch. Unlike others who went to Sprint stores and tested out the pre-release "advocates" models for the past week, it is not a hands on at all and just generalized fanboyism. Look at the comment on Android We know it is Android, but it is 2.1 and everything coming out is 2.2 and the competing models that came before have been updated to 2.2.
And Sprint is good but speaking of "kool-aid", you don't save $1,800/year over iPhone. And the person is claiming they were spending $80 a month for Comcast internet and we should include that in our calculus? Absurd. Most people are not going to kill their internet plan and in my area Verizon 3mps DSL is $30 and Comcast internet is $28 over the comcast cable. -
Actually a reply to the reply by kbaum17! Part of the blame for these types of reviews has to go to CNET. There is no way to provide feedback on the review itself without submitting a review. There are always things that are said by reviewers, some inadvertantly, some purposefully, that are incorrect or misleading.
I have seen several reviewers state incorrect information because they rushed reviews. That is when they have the product in hand! It's ok to rush a review, just don't state a fact about a phone if you don't actually kow something as a fact!
CNET, please provide a comment section! -
this poster has no business rating this phone when he/she does not even have it in hand yet. What a joke!
To all you lame, pre-posters: Give it a rest! You are talking about stuff you know nothing about because you don't even have the device in hand and have never ever touched it. Got to the Sprint Store, touch it on Aug 31 and theeeeen come and review this. The rest of us are trying to get real reviews from real users on this site. All you pre-posters do is spoil the whole notion of user-reviews. Did you see the part where they are called "user" reviews?! So, if you haven't used the phone, you have no business review it. Simple logic.
