"Nice looking but no battery life and cheesey feel" on by lisacp
Pros: Nice look, sound quality
Cons: Cheesey feel, horrible battery life
Summary: Got it the day it released. Great sound quality. Noticed the battery was down 3/4 of the way after 30 min of talk. Recharged. Again 30 min of talk and battery lost 3/4 of charge. Tried again the next 2 days, same thing. Nice look. The phone had a plasticy, chessey light feel to it. Did not feel comfortable with it lasting 24 months. Went ahead and swapped it out with the LG VX8700. That is a sweet phone, as nice as the Gleam, great sound, LG quality and a bit on the sturdier side. Good try from Samsung. Bet the next one holds a charge.

"Great Phone! Love it!" on by cfsauto1
Pros: Call sound quality and volume are excellent, car theme is very cool
Cons: Fragile and "plasticly" feel
Summary: This is the 4th Verizon phone that I have owned (all others were Motorola’s) and in my opinion Samsung’s are built much better then Motorola’s. I can't say enough about the quality of the sound when on a call, it is a very crisp and clear sound, and the volume is excellent. For me, that is the most important thing. I do not use the media player, so I will not comment on that. Just like the Razor, the keypad is flat, but the numbers are much easier to dial on this phone. When it is dark, the keys are very bright and they have a nice color to them. I LOVE the car theme, which I believe is specific to the Gleam only, it is a great change from the standard Verizon themes and menus. The only negative thing I can say is that for a phone that is so shiny, you would think it would have a heavier feel, but it is quite “plasticy” and fragile. For my use, the battery life is great, I can go 3 or 4 days without a charge, but I probably don't use it as much as most people. Other then that, GREAT PHONE. I have had it for about 2 months.

"this beauty is skin-deep" on by nogleam
Pros: form factor and weight
Cons: too many to list
Summary: I am returning this phone. My old phone, an LG 8100, is much more user-friendly and functional. The only thing the gleam has going for it is it's size and weight, which are excellent. Let me enumerate the issues I've had with it. Call quality is not good. Does not work 100% with Acura cars hands-free. Front screen is frustrating because of several reasons. The front screen allows you to either see an envelope or the full text of an incoming text message...there is no way to get an envelope and then read the text on the front screen. If you have it set the other way, you get the text flash right onto the front screen but you cannot dismiss it, or see if you have other texts. When you get a text, it shows on the front screen for a few seconds and then disappears. If you walk by your phone an hour later the only way you know if you have a text is to press and hold a button on the front or open the phone. The text font only works for the inside screen, the front screen cannot be changed from it's huge font. Basically there are about 5 different complaints I have about how it handles texts when viewed on the tiny front screen. My old LG allowed me the flexibility to do whatever I wanted on that screen (which by the way was much bigger). Camera takes crappy pictures and has no flash. Car theme is cool for 5 minutes, then you wish you had something else. Ringtones sound tinny on the weak speakers. Charger is plugged into the worst location possible on this phone: on the right side where it pokes you in the face. Should I go on? It's not horrible but my 2-year old LG is actually far more advanced in user experience. The Samsung does definitely have a great look and a light weight.

"I Love this Phone!!" on by gleamrocks
Pros: Thin, light, GREAT Call Quality!!
Cons: None that I've found
Summary: OK....I don't change phones much and I was very reluctant to let go of my 5 year old Samsung flip phone. But it was time so I started looking. I was seduced by the Venus, it look like the latest and greatest. Big mistake. Ith phone was awkard and slow!!! Not for me. So I returned it and got the new Purple Gleam. I couldn't be happier!! The call quality on this phone is unbelievable. It's like being on a land line all of the time. Texting is easy and straignt forward. In fact everything on this phone is easy to navigate. The camera is much faster than the camera on the Venus, and the pics don't look bad.
For me though a phone should be a phone. And this one is the best I've had! -
"Call quality is excellent in my area" on by song2976
Pros: Call quality, screen clarity
Cons: Can see some fingerprints
Summary: I bought this phone for 1 purpose and for one purpose only - to use as a phone. Don't really care about MP3's as my iPod serves this function well. People think I'm on a land line when speaking so I have absolutely no complaints. Super slim and fits in the pocket nicely.. Well done.
