"outstanding for the price"
on by merino07Pros 1. Excellent sound quality
2. Excellent battery duration
3. Very cute structure
4. Fast response time of software.
5. size of QWERTY key is good for easy texting
.Cons the only demerit i find with the phone is the proprietary charger and headphone which requires a unique connector for its port. I feel this is a marketing strategy by samsung to sell headphones and chargers
Summary To start with, this phone is far much outstanding for the $29.99 i paid for it, i.e with a t-mobile 2 year contract. I'm not a marketer for samsung, but they seem to have proved me right for years. If you talk of picture/graphics and sound quality, samsung, sony and LG are three products i can vouch for. They bring their picture and sound quality experience to play in all their products be it in home theaters, plasma tv and now in their phones.
Call/sound quality is very clear so don't worry about you getting your voice muffled. I transferred some of my favorite tracks from my laptop to its mp3 player using bluetooth, and they sound cool. The picture quality of the camera i.e 2.0 Megapixel, is okay for the price. If you need a better picture quality, get a digital camera or a higher pixel phone.
The response time of the software is fast, it's interface is sleek and very easy to use. You should understand that this phone is an upgrade on the Samsung Gravity, so one must expect the software and hardware flaws of the Gravity to have been corrected.
An issue that may be seen as a disadvantage is the location of the SD card at the back of the battery. One can get around that with bluetooth, as long as you are within about 20 feets of your PC.
The size of the screen is okay, but would prefer it to be a little bit bigger. The full QWERTY keys are large enough so you won't be typing "hello" as "hyello" or "ghello." This is a very good texting phone.
The battery duration depends on what you are using the phone for. When fully charged, and not using heavy application on it, including not making heavy number of calls, it could last more than 72 hours before fully drained.
I could go on and on, but this is a smart choice if you don't want to go the way of a smart phone. It has every thing from 3G, bluetooth, video capture to a very high call/sound quality -
"A great all-around messaging phone!"
on by arrow24Pros -Has a relatively large and bright screen
-Overall spaced out keyboard with large keys
-Good picture quality for a 2MP camera
-Easy to use UI
-Unexpected features in a phone in this level: GPS and 3g HSDPA data speeds, a basic HTM web browserCons -Space bar on the keyboard sometimes feels like it double clicks on you
-Micro SD card slot is behind battery cover (at least it isn't behind the battery though)
-Soft keys, messaging key, and clear key are too small for my likingSummary I just got this phone yesterday (upgraded from a Samsung slider) and have been using it for a little while now, and so far 1st impressions seem VERY good.
To start off with the design, I definitely like the orange color, and also it feels like it can withstand a few drops since it has a heavy weight and a solid build.
I already mentioned some of the performance and features in the pros and cons section, though just to add: the phone also has IM clients (AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo in this case),email (supports pretty much all POP3 and IMAP email clients), an organizer (calendar, notepad, stopwatch, etc),and a basic file browser which is practically built into the menu system.
Overall I think this phone excels at what it's supposed to do, and even better, adds some features that you wouldn't expect on this type of phone. I am very satisfied with the phone and commend Samsung on this one. -
"Great buy for the price"
on by frankel1205Pros Great sound quality.
Nice battery life.
Very good resolution.Cons Qwerty keyboard is not totally qwerty.
Vaccilates between 3G and Edge.Summary For the price, this little phone is great. I got the berry mauve and it's cute. I did not want a smart phone, and this offers some features that are very smart phone-ish.
The browser is fine, but will change from 3G to Edge a lot. Bottom line: I would buy again in a heartbeat. -
"Good messageing phone over all"
on by MickeyRogersPros Space-ish keyboard, Good sound, Nice physical feel, and nice colors.
Cons Top row of keys dont have enough thumb room, the placement of fmusic files can get lost easily if you dont keep them organized, the dialpad, messageing key, and the 2 soft keys are small.
Summary I bought this phone just a couple of days ago and so far im pleased with my decision. I use to have the low-end virgin mobile phones and this one is a nice upgrade. I like the sound of the speaker, i can easily hear music in my pocket while im at work. Which is also good when walking in loud places.
Although the top row of keys dont have enough thumb room i can get use it. Its not a killer but its annoying especially while typeing long messages.
The soft keys are a bit small but i do think that there is enough space inbetween the keys and the d-pad that it shouldnt effect your accurancy when hitting them.
I would recommened this phone with its nice camera and spacious keyboard to any texter out there with t-mobile.
Oh and the browser does have adobe flash lite so if you have a data plan with it you can watch youtube videos. And the browser is better than usually non smartphone cause its full html. But be aware you will do alot of scrolling. -
"Pretty decent phone"
on by Human_KindPros -Decent keys
-Comprehensive owner/operator manual
-Decent screenCons -No way to resize loaded images for your background: center, tile, ect.
-Music tags don't update in the phone. You're left with the actual file title rather than whatever tags you have implanted into the file with winamp.Summary Overall this is a very decent phone however do realize that I am upgrading from a bottom line traphone to a Motorola Renew to this all in the space of a week. I have little experience with Iphones, Blackberries, enV Touches, or whatever else is the new hot gadgetry these days. I find the user interface to be functional enough, if not necessarily streamlined. The screen is very bright and sharp but the major downside is that the end user is not able to resize a photo to fit the screen. Scaling is also a problem as larger images tend to gain lots of artifacts when downsized to fit the screen.
Other than the proprietary headphone and charger jack, I have few issues with this phone. The call quality is great and reception is still very good. Strangely I have noticed that reception quality is not as great as simpler phones designed exclusively for calling such as the Renew.
