"Beautiful phone, everyone will be jealous, a bit big though"
Pros: Great reception, EVDO capable, stong media player, fast processor, Bright screen, powerful technology
Cons: Screen gets dirty easily, camera has slow shutter
Summary: This phone is probably on of the best phones in US as of now, it is equiped with a sturdy EVDO connection (wireless broadband). It packs a very fast processor (you'll never wait for your phone to do things. It supports AJAX, great for Google Mobile (google.com.glm). LOUD speakerphone, you'll never have to say "WHAT?" Camera dezign is cool, but you must swivel the screen to use the camera, not a big deal since the camera is on the side. As of now, this phone is incapable of logging on to secure websites using its' own built in WAP browser (AIM, GMAIL...). But this phone works plenty well with the MiniOpera App.
The A940 has smaller than usual buttons, if you are on the chubbier side, this may be a problem. It has a funny motion sensor that comes with 3 applications: virtual dice, a beat boxer, and a random lotto ball chooser, all you have to do is SHAKE THE PHONE. Be careful though, this is a phone that will be your baby for a while. This is one of the few phones that Sprint offers that has Bluetooth. I personally haven't used it yet, but my friends say that it's awesome.
This phone has a plethora of options and setting, once you enter the settings area, you might find yourself lost every now and then. This phone stores 500 contacts or numbers so unless your some producer, you'll never run out.
A few cool things are that this phone supports microSD cards which are identical to TransFlash cards, I don't know why there are two different names. It ships with a 32 MB card and stereo-headphones so you can listen to those MP3s that are oh-so-popular nowadays. It also fathoms a desktop charger and a USB cable. This phone can be used as a modem but it'll cost ya.
Right now, I get about 4-5 hours of talk time (GREAT) and 2-3 days of standby. Now that's without all of the multimedia features that I've been using. I watch TV on it, well actually I'm a cheater, I only watch previews of movies and little short clips like that since I refuse to pay another $15 for a Power Vision package. Though you might not pay for Power Vision (high speed data, EVDO), your A940 will still lock onto the signal for no charge (yet...).
I'm also enjoying the On Demand application (built in). It allows me to access thing like Weather, News, Sports, Stocks, and Movie times for free (as long as you have a data plan.). The news function has brought me out of boredom several times, it has everything, from politics to strange news (yes, an actual section).
Another random but empowering implementation, when you dial a number, the digits can be set to turn up in rainbow, monochrome schemes. Additionally, when you dial a 10 digit-number, it will automatically identify what state you are calling and view it at the bottom of the screen.
This phone send Text messages fast and won't make you wait until the message is sent to resume other functions.
This phone also hosts a Sprint Music application so you can purchase music from their servers. I guess if you are desperate you can buy a song for $2.50 + tax. It will allow you 5 free downloads.
The A940's voice recognition is quite good, it rarely makes mistakes unless I am in a noisy room.
Warning- this phone is big, but it's size can be justified. This phone is what you would see if you flew over to Korea or Japan a year ago, pretty good for US. It will be that bulge in your pants, if people ask you what's that bulge, you can pull out your phone and show it off...
My advice- If you only need a phone for calling, this is certainly NOT for you. If you like having the latest technology in your jeans, then this phone is a must!!!
I hope this helped with your search.
Happy Holidays!
