"Good phone, but there are some issues"

    by lando68 on February 4, 2006

Pros: Good reception, good headphones, compact (I used to have a treo)

Cons: Music player has some "interesting" issues, Bluetooth connectivity is confusing

Summary: I love this phone, as a phone, but I also bought it because of the mp3 player. I got one month free PCS Vision (which also comes with 5 free music downloads from the Sprint music store) and almost everytime I launch the Music player, it connects me to the Internet, and there is no way to tell it not to do so. The options are "yes" or "always connect". I don't understand why this is the default, especially as I plan to upload my own music files from my computer to the phone via Bluetooth (which is a whole other issue), and I don't plan to continue PCS Vision once my free month is over. I am curious to see if this usually-but-not-always connection continues once the free month is over...and even more curious to see if they charge me if it does happen by "accident". I have gotten several different answers from Sprint customer service and tech service people as to whether the mp3 player is dependent on being connected to the internet. I also don't like the fact that the songs that are downloadable from the Sprint music store are only playable on the phone, and can't be transferred to PC/Mac. So I guess this particular issue is possibly more to do with Sprint than with the phone itself. Onward to the Bluetooth issue...I just bought the adapter today and I have apparently succeeded in pairing the phone with my iMac and have also apparent succeeded in sending two mp3 files from my computer to the phone--I say "apparently" because I can't find them in my phone. They do not appear in my list of "all my music" in the Music player. It says there is no content when I open the Media Player...yet, something is taking up memory because I am able to see how much memory is being used. I'm also going in circles trying to send pictures from my phone to my computer. Argh! Anyone else have these problems and/or have solutions?

If like the A920, you need to save the song to your playlist to have it play with your other songs...can't remember exactly how to do it as I just played around with it until I got it - kinda confusing!!
