"too weak for the price"
Pros: gps, mp3, durable, loud, bluetooth, and it feels good when and is easy to find.
Cons: constant signal drops if your at the edge of your area, battery time should be longer, outer display is useless as it can't be seen in daylight and only stays on for 10 seconds and can't be activated unless the phone is opened.
Summary: If I could afford to do it again I'd rather have the motorola model, this is my first non-motorola phone and I guess I'm getting what I deserve for switching. Also, upon losing the signal I have to shut the phone off and turn it back on before signal returns. My former phone, the motorola razor had a rare occasional signal drop and I didn't need to restart the phone to re-establish signal.
The usb is a serious draw back, advertised as a 2.0 I've discovered the data cable hard to come by as its a micro 2.0, I finally had to order one online.
Memory card slot is under the battery, another serious draw back.
Overall the greatest failure of this phone is its poor signal strength, samsun should have put some sort of antenna on this model as motorola did theirs. I'm in high hopes that the cheap aftermarket booster helps, otherwise I'll soon be selling this phone on ebay and buying the motorola version.
When using the bluetooth the volume is great but the other person's voice is distorted and sound too digital.
If you live well in your provider area and you don't travel out of the provider area then I think this phone would be ideal, just keep a charger handy. But if you live at the edge of your provider area as I do and travel as I do then I suggest you not consider this phone. I've used the same provider since 2004 and this rugby is the only phone to constantly drop the signal, all my other phones have been motorolas.
I did find the camera to be better than expected, several reviews I've read indicated the camera was weak and poor but this camera seems to match my razor v3 other than less zoom available.
I would amost hazard a guess that samsung rushed production of this phone, so many small things that could have been made far better. As it is the phone is far over-priced and over-rated. Signal strength of a phone should be the main focus of any review because if the phone can't maintain a signal then nothing else about it matters and this samsung rugby clearly can't keep a signal when you reach the edge of your network area.

You are right about the signal strength of the Rugby, it has to get better and must be a top priority for Samsung. I just went back to the Rugby from the Tundra because I was not getting my calls. The Tundra would go to sleep (for lack of a better explanation) and would take 4 or 5 rings on the callers end before the Tundra would ring. This happened with 2 Tundra phones. I cannot and will not recommend the Tundra phone. I am a fan of Motorola and very upset with the quality of phones they are putting out. This is a military grade phone and I am very happy the military did not get the 2 phones that I had. Our men and women deserve better!
