"Pretty Good Phone"
Pros: Good battery life. Good screen quality. Handles multimedia REALLY well (that's my favorite thing about the phone). GREAT camera/picture quality.
Cons: no bluetooth (what were they thinking??)
Summary: I like this phone a lot. My first priority is that my mobile needs to be a good PHONE, and this phone delivers. As far as other things, EV-DO is nice, but useless. You can't tether to a laptop using hi-speed EV-DO, so it's only good for quick MMS sends, and slightly (yes, slightly) faster web browsing on the phone. The v-Cast service is cool, but if you ask me, it's useless. It's just a nice gimick. My main reason for going with a v-Cast phone is so that I can browse the web, and check/send email, or tether without using airtime minutes for data. v-Cast phones use the EV-DO network for data. The phone's menu system is okay, but it takes WAY too many "clicks" to send someone a text message. It shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 clicks to locate one of your contacts, and send them a text message. But not a huge deal. I've had a lot of phones...particualrly GSM and Nextel. This phone is probably the best phone I've owned. But only get this phone if you're interested in EVDO for one reason or another (for v-cast, or whatever). If you don't need any of that stuff, there may be no reason to pay all that money for this phone. Then again, if price IS NOT an issue and you're indifferent about v-cast, then get this phone because it's really good, regardless of v-Cast/EV-DO. Verizon's service is the best I've had (and I've used them all)Updated
I really liked this phone. Had great features, and all those features worked well. But now that I have been using the Motorola e815 I'm discovering that this Samsung has some audio flaws. Some soft sounds get clipped, or fuz out entirely. For example, the word "Bye" would sound like "eye". Now, for a word like that it's not a big deal but when soft sounds are getting clipped all the time you wind up having to really "work" at listening harder. The Samsung was my second phone of that model...I exchanged it after a few days it for the same model because I thought the audio clipping was a problem with the phone, but the replacement had the same problem so I thought it was just how Verizon's network encoded/compressed the audio. But it wasn't Verizon, it was the phone. My e815 has far better audio quality and clarity.
