"disappointing" on by raphus
Pros: small and slim, start and end calls with open and close, cheap
Cons: poor battery life, annoying menus, weak vibration, no mac support
Summary: I wanted a slim, basic phone that would be easy to use and would sync with my Mac. The U-340 didn't really come through. It's battery life is terrible, and I talked to another user who said the same thing. I don't talk on the phone all that much, and the charge still sometimes doesn't last through a whole day. I had to buy a second charger to keep at work. The menus and UI are annoying: a thick white bar appears at the top of photos when used as wallpaper, another blue bar appears at the bottom just to show the vibrate icon when the volume is set to vibrate only, etc. The wallpaper picture becomes almost unviewable. My old LG had a tiny icon when set to vibrate, and the icon appeared in the empty space next to the other icons (battery and reception indicators, etc.). And I hardly ever use vibrate mode anymore, since the vibration is so weak that I usually can't feel it in my front pants pocket. That means that I have to constantly remember to turn off the phone when I don't want to be interrupted, and I sometimes forget, so the phone goes off in meetings, etc., more than my old phone did. These are serious annoyances. The small size is great for carrying in a pocket, but the battery life and lack of mac syncronization are deal killers. I'm selling it on eBay and getting something with a battery will last all day and that I can import phone numbers into from my Mac.

"A solid basic phone" on by phrogdriver
Pros: Good call quality, slim enough to fit comfortably in your pocket
Cons: Almost too small; not a lot of features.
Summary: I bought this phone for my 12-year-old daughter after she picked it out at the Verizon store. It's almost perfect for her. She doesn't (yet) text or IM people, doesn't need mobile web (which is not available on this phone anyway), or any other whistles and bells.
Essentially, this is exactly what she needs: a phone to make calls on. She was excited about the camera capabilty of the phone (a vga lens, so it's nothing special), and she loved the way it looks, as well as it's design. The size is a big plus too, as it easily fits into her pocket.
My one an only complaint is that it is almost too small. I'm not a big guy, but this phone almost disappears in my hand, making it difficult not to inadvertently cover the internal antenna.
Overall, this is a good, solid, basic phone for people who need something to make calls on, without all the extraneous features cluttering a lot of mobile phones today. -
"Great kid phone. Takes a mauling and keeps on calling." on by liebs105
Pros: Simple, tough, pocket-sized, inexpensive
Cons: Small feature set, but that's a benefit on this phone
Summary: This has been the perfect phone for my teenage daughter. She beats the heck out of it, and its scratched case bears witness. It's small enough to fit easily in her pocket, doesn't let her start spending money on features she doesn't need, and is hard to kill. She got it wet and it started working intermittently. On the advice of a Verizon service tech, I removed the battery and submerged the whole thing in a bowl of rice for several hours. After that, it returned to perfect working order again and has remained so since. If she were to lose this phone, I'd definitely get her another one, and I recommended it to a father shopping for a phone for his daughter today.

"A simple compact camera phone, OK choice" on by lamutt47
Pros: Simple menu system, compact, internal antenna
Cons: No recorder, no camera flash or zoom, external LCD black and white
Summary: This is an OK phone overall. It is easy to open, the keys are big enough, the charger plug-in cover does not disconnect so you won't lose it. There are several ringtones that come with the phone to choose from. This is a simple camera phone without a lot of extras and a relatively decent phone.
