"Save yourself some grief and buy something else!" on by Lindawagg
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Horrible reception. Lots of static. Drops first word off every sentence. Terrible wind noise.
Summary: My husband and I got these to replace LG VX8300's. After 3 years of use, my husband was starting to have some battery issues. The Samsung's were only $20 so we thought we were getting a good deal. We wanted basic no frills cell phones. We forgot to add that we wanted to actually talk on them. You cannot carry on a single conversation anywhere without some kind of interference. The most aggrivating is the first word of every sentence or even a pause drops off. You hear a fragment of the word so you know something was said but its unintelligable. Which leads to a bad verizon commercial of "Can you hear me now?"
I have gotten so aggrivated with this phone that I have hung up and called the person back on a land line. Which kind of defeats the point of having a cell phone. My husband is having the exact same problem with his phone. It is nearly impossible for the 2 of us to have a conversation with these horrible phones. We are heading back to Verizon to exchange them for something else. If they refuse to exchange them without the stocking fee ($35) we will just buy new batteries for our old LG phones that never gave us any trouble. We live in the same place and use the phones in the exact same manner of the LG's so the problem is not the area coverage....Its the phone!!! Save yourself some grief and buy somehthing else! -
"Distant/echo sounding, poor reception" on by brakss2
Pros: Held charge for 2 solid days including several long phone conversations
Cons: Distant/echo sounding for all outgoing calls, improved (sometimes) if the person called back. Terrible reception. Casing feels cheap.
Summary: The battery life was nice, but I'm not sure if it's so much a function of the phone or more that it was just new.
From day 1 I felt like I was talking into a tin can every time I used the phone. It wasn't exactly an echo (though I did get a full echo a few times); more distant-sounding. I found that if I made an outgoing call, it was always distant-sounding. Incoming calls tended to be better, so I had people call me back most times -- so inconvenient! I called Samsung and sent it in to get repaired. They found nothing wrong with it! It passed all their testing, so I guess the poor sound quality is just standard on this phone.
I live in a relatively large town, and there are Verizon towers everywhere, but I only got over 2 bars reception in my 13 story office building. Otherwise it hovered below 1 bar with an occasional jump to a single bar.
It's a pretty light weight phone, which has its benefits, but it is definitely cheap-feeling. I'd rather have a phone that can handle a drop or two. This one seems like it would crack in half if it hit the floor. -
"I give it 2 out of 5 because of the feature and options" on by emilyjoshel
Pros: i think the respection on my phone is good I usually don't drop any calls
usually have full barsCons: There is very little features on the phone. Its a plan jane
its good to have if you don't use it for any thing other then talking or texting
I like more features and options on a phone but its very easy to useSummary: if you just a basic phone to use to call people then its the right phone for you. If you want more in a phone then its not commended

"Good simple phone" on by narn3049
Pros: Simple phone, my grandfather had owned this phone before he got texting and a smartphone
Cons: I guess that it has no video, but I don't think people would be that concerned since they just need something basic or for a first time phone.
Summary: I give this phone a 3.5 because it does not have the greatest camera but the ringtones are cool, and loud for him. Although he things that they need more different cases, he is more of the holster non flip and he doesn't like the plastic one it is held in now.
The black finish is really nice and cool, he liked his other phone (sch a930) better then this phone but the upgrade time came and he wanted to get an upgrade because the phone looked totally beat up. But his new phone doesnt have video and sadly no sd slot or vcast, more of a downgrade if asked by me. -
