"Distant/echo sounding, poor reception"
Pros: Held charge for 2 solid days including several long phone conversations
Cons: Distant/echo sounding for all outgoing calls, improved (sometimes) if the person called back. Terrible reception. Casing feels cheap.
Summary: The battery life was nice, but I'm not sure if it's so much a function of the phone or more that it was just new.
From day 1 I felt like I was talking into a tin can every time I used the phone. It wasn't exactly an echo (though I did get a full echo a few times); more distant-sounding. I found that if I made an outgoing call, it was always distant-sounding. Incoming calls tended to be better, so I had people call me back most times -- so inconvenient! I called Samsung and sent it in to get repaired. They found nothing wrong with it! It passed all their testing, so I guess the poor sound quality is just standard on this phone.
I live in a relatively large town, and there are Verizon towers everywhere, but I only got over 2 bars reception in my 13 story office building. Otherwise it hovered below 1 bar with an occasional jump to a single bar.
It's a pretty light weight phone, which has its benefits, but it is definitely cheap-feeling. I'd rather have a phone that can handle a drop or two. This one seems like it would crack in half if it hit the floor.
