Pros: Cool design, qwerty keyboard

Cons: External screen prone to breakage, no talk back

Summary: As much as I would like to have balanced out my score based on the good and bad characteristics of this phone, the bottom line is that if a portable device is prone to break easily, I can't give it anything higher than a 1. A coworker bought this exact same phone. The external screen cracked six weeks after he owned it. I still bought one from Verizon considering how carefull I am with any of my electronic gear. One week after I recieved it, the external screen cracked somehow. I noticed that unlike Motorola and Nokia, Samsung doesn't have a piece of glass or rigid plastic layer over the lcd. Instead it is a very thin layer of highly flexible plastic. A miniscule amount of pressure is all that is needed for the screen to break. Verizon was unwilling to replace the phone. They are appearently aware of this problem so they heavily suggest buying the insurance, although you still have inconvenience and a deductable. Verizon has just started a special on this phone to try and dump thier supply until Samsung redesigns it. All things said, play it safe and steer clear of Samsungs. I know another person who had a Samsung also, different model though. His screen also cracked.

I have owned this phone since July. Im a major texter and can be very clumsy at time but I have dropped it alot of times. The screen has never broke/bend/etc. It still looks new.

Although I have only owned this phone for a few weeks, I believe it to be very well constructed. Yes, the front screen does appear to be thin, but not only does that allow for the touch screen music buttons, it is still not as thin as you make it appear.

Putting pressure on the front screen, I found it does bend, and comes into contact with the LCD; however, it did not break. Either your phone was unusually brittle, or it was abused.

As for delicate parts of the phone, the only thing I noticed was the hinge. My old samsung phone (which was near bullet proof) had a similar hinge to rotate the screen 360. This hinge appears a bit smaller, and could be easily broken if rotated when the phone was not closed to begin with.

You may mistreat your phones. Ive owned almost ten samsungs! this is by far one of the best if not the best! None of them have ever broke. Ive even droped one in a bucket of water and the next morning it worked again. Its your opinion though
