"Over-all, good phone" on by hershfernandes

Pros: Very slim, nice screen, camera's pretty good, more below

Cons: Keys a little close, miss a few calls (details below)

Summary: I've had this phone for a couple of weeks and overall it's been good. Before this I test drove the Samsung Sync, and while it was a good phone, I'm not a fan of flip phones. Before that I had a Nokia 1100 for about 4 years, which I loved. Great reception and battery life, very durable. But here's what I think of the A727.

First, the physical aspects: It has a very good screen. It's hard to read in direct sunlight but there's a pretty easy fix for this- shield the screen with your other hand. While the keys are a bit close together, you definitely get used to it. The slim design is awesome (one of the factors that swayed me towards this phone). It's pretty light, too, which is good (for obvious reasons) but can be bad (it's just a little bit harder to feel it vibrate in your pocket, so I've missed a few calls).

Performance: The editor's review said call quality was shotty, but I haven't really experienced that. Calls are very clear, for the most part (more than the Nokia 1100) and 3G is nice. The one thing that worries me are the times that incoming calls haven't "gone through" and I'll just get an alert saying that I have a voicemail. I'm not sure if this is the phone's fault or whether it just didn't have reception sitting in my pocket. The camera is not bad, I don't use it much so 1.3MP is plenty. The 2MP camera on the Sync was nice, but, in my opinion, a bit unecessary.

All in all I paid $100 for this phone and, overall, am happy with it.

    Updated
I posted the first review about this phone and i rated it an 8/10. Since then, I've spent about a year with it and have found a lot of things wrong.

1)The first thing that went wrong was that the battery cover in the back fell off and is difficult to keep on.
2)Next, the call quality really is uneven. There are times when I can hear people or can be heard just fine, but then there are other times when this just isn't the case. Also, sometimes calls are "fuzzy".
3)Another problem, but one that's been there the whole time, is that there is only one "silent-mode" profile. Therefore, you can only set the phone to vibrate OR silent (no-vibe). Essentially, there isn't an option to have one profile for vibrate and one for silent (no-vibrate).
4)As of late the alarm has stopped working.
5)To top it all off, my phone has started to pick up other people's conversations that are nowhere near me. There are even times when all I can hear is my own echo. I talked with AT&T and they just said to reset the phone and lose all of my saved preferences.

Overall, I'm really disappointed now and am looking for a new phone.

"Sleek and Stylin" on by TJe1536

Pros: Looks good, sounds good, 1.3mp camera, MiniSD card slot

    Cons: small buttons

Summary: This was my upgrade from the Motorola Razr (which I was not really pleased with at all.....) Nice camera phone, plays mp3's, looks great, and plenty of bells and whistles.

Overall Im pleased with the phone, I think the sound quality is fine especially compared to the poor quality of the Razr.

Battery time is good, thin design, nice phone! Everything I would expect from Samsung.

"An Alright Phone" on by Airbourne Infantry

    Pros: Camera, Call Quality

    Cons: Texting, Battery Life

Summary: This phone was alright. The call quality, camera speed, and sound were avaerage. The buttons were a little too close together making texting difficult and time-consuming. Internet was slow, but functional. Overall this is a phone for someone who is looking for something with a camera, video, and music, but not for someone who uses a phone heavily for texting.

"Great phone, if you don't lose the back cover..." on by kouamem

Pros: Very sleek phone with good functionality.

Cons: Lost back cover, company won't send replacement.

Summary: I lost the battery cover of this phone two months ago. I called Samsung to ask for a replacement part. I was told that my request would be processed shortly. Two weeks later, I called again, and my information was found nowhere on their system, so I had to provide info, again. Then, another two weeks later I called to inquire about my request, and I was transferred to somebody in accessories who probably told me more than he should have. The short story is, there have been "issues" with this phone, and now corporate handles all requests, and there should be no expectations as to whether or not corporate will get back to the customer (me, or anybody else). In this day and age, this is what I would call backwards customer service.

"Small package that packs a punch" on by jpayne7660

    Pros: Small, Sleek and Stylish

Cons: Short Battery life, small buttons

Summary: OK, this is my first review on a product on CNET, and I've got to say this phone is great! If you are looking for a PHONE, and not a camera, email browser, text phone, etc..this phone is for you. I run the IT/IS for my company so I have a laptop I carry around. I just wanted a great phone that was very small and fit in my pocket...without looking like a geek. The 3G works great in the South Florida area, no drop calls at all and the sound quality is awesome. The battery life is a little shorter than my KRZR1, but look at the size of this thing...no wonder! The screen is goregous, and by sinking bluetooth with my laptop I had my phone book tranfered in 5 mins! Uploaded photos and everything else is a snap!

If you are just looking for a great pone that's small and sleek, this is the one for you!!!
