"Great phone if you have specific needs"

Pros: Voice recognition, bluetooth, keyboard works great w/mobile email, feels solid

Cons: Keyboard not the most intuitive, difficult to navigate if you don't read the manual thoroughly. Too easy to accidentally turn off ringer volume. Wish the keyboard was usable for more features.
Summary: I had very specific expectations when I got this phone. I had no desire to have a camera, no need to browse the web. I wanted a phone that could make a decent quality call, ability to do text messaging with something that resembled a keyboard but not a big PDA. Email would be nice if it worked with the keyboard. Turns out that if you are an AOL, Yahoo, MSN email customer, Cingular offers Mobile email for free that can be downloaded to this phone so you can check your email from the landscape mode and have full use of the keyboard. I use SBC Yahoo, so I can take advantage of the keyboard. All other email accounts have to resort to portrait mode, which makes the keyboard useless. If you don't want to do email, it works fine for text messaging - but seems you have to push too many buttons to navigate the menu. You can make and receive calls in portrait and landscape mode. Call quality is good - my only complaint is probably just related to the spottiness of GSM at times and not necessarily the phone. Address book functionality is limited in landscape mode so just plan on the inconvenience of creating your address book entries without the keyboard. Bluetooth works great. Speakerphone appears to be truly duplex and works best when you don't have to compete with other noise on your end. Voice recognition works really well for handsfree dialing. If you get over the quirkiness of the keyboard and are willing to read the manual on how to use it, it really is a very good phone.
