"Sleek design but weak basic functionality"
Pros: slide design, big beautiful screen, bluettoth, email capable, mp3 layout, micro sd card slot.
Cons: feels like cheap plastic, slides open too easily, call quality is very poor, lack of accessories.
Summary: I am of the opinion (although i LOVE my gadgets)that a phone should be a phone first and let all the peripherals make it that much more attractive not the other way around. The samsung d807 is a phone that boasts STYLE over SUBSTANCE. The call quality was not very good inside the house and even worse outside (in the wind, you can forget about hearing anything on the other end). For the Price of this phone i felt that it sould have included the mini sd card and at the very least a headset. all that is included is the charger and handbook. for $20 more the motorola SLVR includes both (however i will admit that the itunes app on the SLVR is less than perfect). The other downside to the phone is in the contacts application. DO NOT ERASE YOUR SIM CARD after copying your contacts to the phone. You will not be able to copy them back if you switch phones for any reason. I learned this the hard way. The problem then lies in the fact that all of your contact numbers are duplicated in the contacts list. On a more positive note, the screen is beautful and being able to use the bluetooth capabilites to transfer wallpapers from my laptop was fantastic at first. however, the graphic clock options for standby mode end up being so large (unlike the samsung a900 for sprint) that they get in the way of the wallpaper images. I was very disappointed in the samsung d807. I had high hopes and they were dashed against the rocks like a tech-geek shipwreck. - OV

The call quality is excellent and much better than my old Sony z500. There is a sticker on the back of the phone that tells you not to cover the antenna area when you hold the phone. Could you have been covering it? I had no problems moving contacts from my SIM. I didn't get double entries. If you switch to the text clock instead of the graphic clock, you can see 99% of your wallpaper

the call quality is aweful, very poor reception, barley picks up a signal. The volume is not loud at all, I cant hear my phone ring and the talk volume is extremely low too, if you are in a noisy place forget about holding a conversation with someome. not the new 3g, and the phone does not have a headphone jack! but it still has a mp3 ***. feels cheap, the whole sim card deal he was talking about is beyond retarded of samsung. save your money and get the a920 thru sprint

From Samsung's website:
How Do I Copy Contacts From My SGH-d807 Phone To The SIM Card?
To copy an address book contact to the SIM card follow the steps below:
While in standby mode, press the left soft key for Menu
Select Address Book (8)
Select Contact List (1)
Select the desired contact entry, stored in your phone's memory, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Options
Select View (1)
Select one of the contact phone numbers, using the navigation keys
Press the left soft key for Options
Select Copy (3)
Select SIM (2)
Press the left soft key to Save the single contact phone number to the SIM card
Note: Each phone number for a contact must be individually saved to the SIM card
PS-Not sure about updating/replacing entries though, which is what you may have been asking about. -
the d807 feels cheap made and is hard to work with. i got mine throught the insurance, and they said this phone was comparible to my sony ericsson s710a which is discontinued. this phone is nowhere close too the quality and user friendly menus and keys of the s710a.
