"Tiny size but not built very well..." on by El Android
Pros: Tiny size, good camera, good reception, nice slider
Cons: Too much creaking, no 'on the fly' ringer choice/volume, poor ringer selection, terrible placement of camera lens.
Summary: I've had this Samsung E635 for almost 2 weeks and I'm taking it back today. It's such a cool looking phone that I had to snap it up. The phone is all plastic and very light, which was not so bad but the problem happens when you press the menu keys when the slider is closed. The phone creaks and makes noise, that's because the construction is pretty shoddy. I thought I could overlook it but it's my main reason for taking it back, this is my second one because the first was the same. More bad, the camera lens is located on the back on a spot where your fingers naturally get in the way, so you have to move your fingers to take a pic. The flash-light is poor but the quality of the VGA pic and the ability to zoom is nice! There are about 20 ringers and all suck! There was one called "Space" which was the best. The other thing I did not like was that in order to switch ringer volumes you have to go to the menu, look for it and change it. There are no shortcuts for this and that is also very annoying. I love the size of the phone, the screen is pretty small but nice and bright. The quality of calls is also nice. No Bluetooth
Overall a neet phone looks-wise but very impractical for everyday use. -
"just okay-don't rush out and buy!" on by needperfectcell
Pros: small, lightweight, fairly easy to use and figure out, camera, AIM&yahoo, speakerphone
Cons: always have to "unlock" screen to do ANYTHING! speakerphone is average, no video, no ringtones, have to copy phone book from SIM to phone to use any caller ID features/individual caller ID impossible
Summary: Oh this could take a while! So I needed a new phone (had samsung e315) because my old just basically stopped working. Which by the way, it was a great phone until then! I wasn't thrilled w/ any of t-mobile's current phone choices but went with the e635 cuz it was small and different and seemed like a good phone. I guess overall it's a good phone-just depends on your wants/needs & likes/dislikes. For starters, the search criteria must have was a speakerphone-e635 check! However whenever I use this much desired feature, whoever I am talking to claims they cannot hear me or hear every other word, etc...not to mention, the volume is less than satisfactory unless you're talking to someone with a really loud voice or who's angry and yelling
Next item up for bid is the sliding feature-great, you never have to open your phone for anything (ex:answer/make calls) unless you need to input numbers...and sometimes if u slide up or down during a call it will end the call altogether! GRRR. Not to mention, that you will scroll through EVERY name in your phone book to get to ONE in the MIDDLE if you choose not to open your phone-so I hope you like w-a-i-t-i-n-g. There is also this pesky little feature that I have not yet figured out how to "turn off" because i don't think you can...the "key lock" on the screen when it is shut. The only way to USE (yes, imagine, a cell phone one actually wants to USE) this little piece of equipment is to slide the phone open which unlocks the screen or to manually do it w/ slider shut. This was an optional feature on the old school nokias circa 5100 series? Yeah. Enough said. There are few ringtones and NO wallpapers-I'm telling you...4. That's it. and 4animated ones. Not a HUGE deal, but kind of annoying. Plus even with the ringer volume on high you can still barely hear it. The vibrate is great, very strong. Voice recorder great feature I haven't used yet, but know it will come in handy IF I KEEP THIS PHONE. The individual caller ID funtions are ridiculous to use-not simple or quick enough. And IM is tedious having to go back and forth from reading and typing on different pages to click SEND! Thanks for reading my vent
I bought this phone in hopes that it would turn out to be good buy--but I have 5 more days to exchange it and I am very strongly leaning in that direction and goin with the sidekick II which I have wanted for a while now. Hey, you could love it! But if any of my complaints are something that might possibly bother you...trust me, they will, don't buy it!!! Oh and one more quick thing-the phone is TINY-cool, good, etc...but it's almost too small for it's own good. -
"a fun, but simple phone, that's super small" on by yayfun795
Pros: small, great screen, fun, thoughtful features
Cons: low picture quality, annoying low battery alarm
Summary: After my last samsung phone, I swore I'd never buy another product by them, but this was just the phone I wanted, and hey, t-mobile will let you exchange it if you you decide you just hate it. The best part of this phone is really just how attractive it is. I wanted a slider phone, purely because it's fun, and this was the only one I found that felt reasonably sturdy and still managed to fit into my budget. I've had it for a couple months now and it's holding up really well. The screen is beautiful, and has the great feature of switching to a low power mode when the phone isn't being used, so that bright screen doesn't drain the battery. It's really tiny, small enough that I carry it around in my pocket all the time, but it's still really easy to use despite it's small size. If you have really big hands, you might want to get a bigger phone, but my hands aren't small by any means and I have no trouble using it. It has some useful little features like alarms, a calculator, a timer, voice memo, and even unit conversion. The camera is great for setting pictures to caller ID, setting pictures as the phones wallpaper, and the occational picture message when you see something that they just have to see to believe, but really that's all it's good for. The pictures look great on the phone's little screen, and not really anywhere else. Since that's all I wanted the camera for, that was fine by me. If I want to take great photography, I'll bring a camera, not a phone. Because of the screen, the battery life is completely dependent on how much you play with it. The more you're messing with it, the more power the screen drains. It'd last a long time if I could stop playing with it. The only thing that really irritates me is the low battery alarm. It starts going off hours before the phone is actually going to die. I left it sitting unused one day, and the alarm was going off every several minutes for over 4 hours. I really don't need that much warning. I've started puting it in silent mode when that happens, so it no longer irritates me.

"Cute and tiny, but more like a 7.5" on by Jasmineflower
Pros: Supre compact, attractive design; good call quality; sufficient call volume; loud ringer
Cons: No Bluetooth; slider design takes getting used to; ringer options SUCK
Summary: I'm very fond of this phone and I get a ton of compliments on it. The slider design means it can be super small, but the buttons are still quite easy to press. My one complaint about the design is that when I first got it, I would constantly (accidentally) reject calls when I was sliding it open, since I tended to push up right by the "end" key. I was also irked that T-Mobile made me--a customer of 4+ years--pay $100 for it when they were giving it away for free to new customers (Um...lame!).
The SGH-E635 has a nice, bright screen and some fun games. There's an alarm with snooze, and it can make and receive picture messages. Personally, I'd prefer to have Bluetooth rather than a built-in camera, but whatever--I love the style. Oh, the onboard IM (Yahoo for me) is a nice touch. All-in-all, a great phone that I hope lasts me a long time, but considering my past experience with cell phone endurance, I doubt that'll be the case. Ah, well....a girl can dream.
Addendum: Yeah, the ringer options are all absolutely terrible. I ended up going with this cheesy techno dance ringer because that was the best option. Be prepared to buy a ringtone that you really like. -
"I read every review here and these are the things they didn't mention..." on by crzymonkey65
Pros: Light-weight, Small, Durable , No plasic like feel to it like some ppl said, Kool looking, Fun to flash open (Matrix?), Good Games, Free with a plan from T-Mobile, Good Reception
Cons: Bad ringtones, Bad melody composer, Slider breaks is loose which causes calls to hang up when u are getting it out of your pocket
Summary: Got the phone about 1 month ago for $20 from T-mobile...(free now so go get it u ****) I would have to say that it is the best phone at T-Mobile has to offer (YES!! ITS EVEN BETTER THEN THE HOLY RAZOR!!!OMG!!!!!!!).LOTS of featers for its small size and weight suprisingly. People said it has a plastic feel to it, i don't know what they are talking about. Everthing feels smooth and strong except for the back of the screen part when it is open but that isn't a big deal. Gets oily very fast from your skin because of of the polish it has to it reqires some professional cleaning with you belly (rub screen on cotton **** gently). Buttons are ok i would say. The most interesting thing about this phone is that it is only a little bit smaller then a flip phone but it looks 10x smaller. Looks even smaller then my friends flip phone but in reality his phone is smaller. The black color it has and the fell it has make it look very small and compact. It doesn't have a bulky look or feel to it which is the best part about it. The screen is high-res i would say and the VGA camera is good with some fun features like Frames and a very bright flash to blind yo friends. Lots of FUN to open and close. My Favorit feature by far...ppl with flip phones just stare at you and CRY!!!!! Its small size lets u practice when many different type of ways to act kool in front of yo girl
Only thing i have to say is that it has some bad ringtones. The best ones sounds like the Meow mix song. So don't forget to beg for $1.45 for a new ringtones. It comes with some kool animation backgrounds to make it look really bad ass...one of the koolest features by far.Althou, it does have its gay features like rainbow font...LEAVE IT ON BLACK YOU F@GS!!!! Good reception but menu is NOT too user friendly so u might have to learn a few shortcuts...i think i just about covered everything. Oh yeah, ppl also said that their finger keeps covering the camera lense which is true if u are holding it THE WRONG WAY!!!!!! There is a camera button on the side to hold the phone like a real camera(sideways) and take a picture SO STOP COMPLAING!!!!!!! They blame the manufacture cause they can't use it. There is also a little mirror next to the camera lense for self-portrait which i find very clever. So yeah, I hope that helps u out if u bothered to read this whole thing...i'm going to go and flip it open now and act kool cause u know how kool i am...i have a $20 cellphone so STEP BACK!!!!!!!!
