    "True mediocrity" on by PathmarkPolice

Pros: Good keypad, decent external display

Cons: a bit chunky, slow menus, horrible ringer sound quality

Summary: Cnet says this phone has bluetooth but it doesn't, so don't get it! Also, the menu times on this phone are atrocious. If you're a moderate texter you'll be frustrated with this phone as it does a very poor job of keeping up with your fingers. Nothing is more frustrating than waiting for a phone book to load, or an application to close. Also, the ringer sound quality is very muffled and poor, the t309 is way better in that department. Also, you're limited to only six people if you want to send out a mass text message, so that becomes quite tedious after a while, having to re send the message to a broken up group, this sucks if you have a lot of friends!

As for the good, the keypad is quite excellent, for a free phone it does offer a decent VGA camera and an "ok" video camera. The battery life is phenomenal, lasting around three days with extensive texting and calling. It's a phone for phone's sake, but the sluggish performance of it really inhibits it from being THE simple phone.

"Phone is a DEFINITE LEMON!!!!!" on by jl1ayala

Pros: Can't think of ANYTHING GOOD about phone.

Cons: Very difficult to navigate, Instruction manual not user friendly AT ALL

Summary: This phone DOES NOT allow downloaded ringtones to be set for individual contacts.
I tried for over two hours with my carriers SAMSUNG specialist and they agreed to exchange my phone. In SAMSUNGS user manual, there is no mention of: 1.Customize phone or 2. Assign ringtones. Thank goodness for NOKIA!!! You don't even need the user manual to customize or program NOKIA products. AVOID THIS SAMSUNG PIECE OF **** if at all possible.

    Updated
Why is there no mention in the manual as to how to 1. Customize ringtones and 2. Assign ringtones to individual contacts? Yes, I know about the instructions on page 62, but JUST TRY TO ASSIGN a PROPERLY DOWNLOADED RINGTONE to a contact. PHONE WILL NOT ALLOW IT. SAMSUNG SPECIALISTS could not explain this deficiency as we tried for over two hours and even my carriers specialists agreed this thing is a LEMON. It was traded for a NOKIA product, which I am sure I won't even need the manual for.
    Updated
I got a DEFINITE UPGRADE to the Samsung JUNK and was able to FULLY CUSTOMIZE the NOKIA 6030 to my needs WITHIN ONE HOUR.

NOKIA IS THE VERY BEST ON THE PLANET!!!!

"Not worth it, but it's a phone at least." on by laaack

Pros: It's a phone. Does your everyday needs for you. It has speakerphone - a little mumbled but you should be able to hear what they're saying. Camera phone is an okay quality, has a self-portrait screen.

Cons: Very bad inner quality, lacks many features such as downloading your own ringtones from text messages, signatures, and assigned ringtones to contacts.

Summary: Pretty bad phone if you ask me. If you're going to sign up for T-Mobile, I suggest getting another free phone, because you can get a much better phone for the same price. It's pretty annoying how many features are lacking, I tried downloading songs with the online free ringtone providers, but it didn't work. The only way is to buy them or just use the default ringtones. You can't even connect it to your computer because the connection is different than the standard USB 2.0. There are many countless other features that just doesn't exist in this phone, but I don't think I need to go into detail of that, seeing how I'm guessing you're pretty sure that you're going to avoid this phone due to all these bad reviews.

"Horribly outclassed by Motorola" on by cryomerlin

Pros: good speakerphone, good phone sound quality

Cons: keys not programmable, can't light up the external display from the outside switches, clumbsy navigation through menus, poor battery life, dedicated "t-zones" soft menu button

Summary: I got this phone (and returned it 5 days later) from T-Mobile as an incentive to sign an additional 2 year contract. I was replacing my Motorola V300 with it. Now I'm back to the Motorola because the Motorola has many more features, is easy to navigate through menus, and it totally customizable.

The Samsung's external display cannot be read when there is no backlight, and the only way to turn on the backlight is to open the phone. This is a very annoying deficiency. In addition, the screen is small, and the phone lists things like menu items, and other lined text with large print that scrolls to the side to reveal the entire text. This is also extremely annoying. The keys are not programmable, so you're stuck with that stupid "t-zones" key on the top right. It also takes about 2 more steps to access every function within the phone than on my Motorola.

While my Motorola cam with about 50 ringtones, the Samsung came with 6!! 6!! And they all sound like a cheap 70's organ. This is obviously meant to drive people to "t-zones" to buy more, but it just drove me deeper into Motorola's corner. The battery life is poor, and basically this phone lacks all the features of a similar Motorola.

Basically, this phone was designed to drive people to "t-zones" to purchase things the phone should have come with. The speaker phone is decent, and the sound quality is good, but other than that, this phone is just not up to par.
