"Better than I expected from Samsung" on by funnyman
Pros: Reception is actual very good. No dropped or missed calls yet.
Cons: Could use more personalized options. You have to stick to their standard options.
Summary: I've been one of the biggest critics of Samsung cell phones. I've had 2 previous phones made by Samsung and none of them last more than 3 months. Reception quality and features were totally lacking. I totally shattered the screen on my old Toshiba phone and I was totally against buying this phone. But at the time it was my ONLY option. It was the only one that had all the features that I wanted in my price range. Boy,was I surprised. The camera's zoom feature is excellent. The camera takes better pictures than my old Toshiba. The reception quality is rather very good. In my apartment I had ALOT of issues with reception quality with my 3 previous phones. This new Samsung handles it like a champ!! Which was shocking to me!! Even at work,I've had reception issues. But none so far with this phone. I LOVE the big LCD screen on the front of the phone. Very bright, clear colors. The things this phone really lacks is more options to personalize your phone. I'm not to crazy about the flimsy, little antenna either but it does the job. Also, the buttons on the left side of the phone are just too sensitive. Everytime I grab my phone,I hit those buttons. It just gets annoying hearing that noise that I just hit a button!!!

"Pictures are wonderful...connection quality, not so good" on by CRY_L8R
Pros: Takes wonderful pictures
Cons: More drop calls, poor connections, and out of service area with this phone that I have had with my last 3 Sprint Cells. (Snyo 8100,8200 and the Samsung VGA100) Would not recomment to anyone.
Summary: This phone is not good ss a cell but rocks s for taking pictures...so if you are in the market for a camera, then you should enjoy this device.

"very Good all-around Phone" on by Canada_Man
Pros: Amazing camera, light , vivid colour
Cons: antenna was sortive weak
Summary: this phone is great. i read rewievs that said that the reception was not so good but it was all on sprint company. i am in canada and on Bell Mobility and this is the best phone i have ever had it has everything you need and the reception is great. but i travel tot he united stated and im not trying to get people mad but canada has a much better reception abilities than the U.S. in canada this phone is amazing no dropped calls amazing picture and screan. nothing is wrong with this phone. it did heat up a little bit but not much at all to cause any sort of problem. it was a little bit hard to use the key pad because i hace shuch big hands but it is manageable and it is a nice solid small phone and would highly recomend it. also works very well in the caribbean on canadian service.

"Reviews don't do this phone justice!" on by amorphouskev
Pros: Everything but the cons :-)
Cons: Small keypads for bigger hands, connection sometimes shotty.
Summary: I've had the phone for less than a day. The only complaint I have about the phone is that connections are a little shotty sometimes, and I've had a dropped call already. Of course this could be an issue with the provider, and not the A740 itself. Other than that, its your regular flip camera phone, nice and compact in design. Camera placement is in a perfect place, and takes wonderful pictures. You're not given any WONDERFUL ringtones with it, just some generic sounding ones, but if you can afford to shelve out a couple of dollars for some realtones I would advise it, they sound pretty decent. I'd recommend this phone to anybody. However I would not recommend paying the $248.00 that its regular retail price is. I got mine on deal for $79.99, which makes this phone a damn good deal!

"Great little phone with some nice extras" on by dudeman01
Pros: Small yet sturdy, display and sound quality, voice and camera functions are great
Cons: 4-way rocker a bit twitchy
Summary: This phone was not my first choice, but after being very disappointed with the one I originally chose, I gave this a try - glad I did. Aesthetically, the phone is very sharp. The blue on silver finish is tastefully accented with a ring of silver around the external display. It's very compact, but still enough to provide a good handle on. The flip opens easily with a deft flick of the thumb. Keypad layout is staight forward, although the 4-way rocker selector can ocassionally be tricky. I think the "OK" center button may sit a bit high, forcing unintended choices. Once aware of this, it's pretty easy to get around it. Displays are sharp, with some classy analog (dial) clock selections for the exterior display. The camera has a wealth of features and good quality - I might actually use it! The voice dial system requires a fair amount of calibration as is prompts you speak several combinations of numbers, but once done is incredibly easy (and cool) to use. Sound quality is good, and the phone rests comfortably against the ear. Battery life is as advertised. Web access is also fun, but I will probably not use it beyond the free trial period. A speakphone would have been nice, but utimately good basic phone performance is most important, which this phone has. The camera and voice dials are nice extras.
