"Great phone despite menu system" on by mmmmaxheadroom

Pros: Reception, bright LCD, features mp3, wma and aac.

Cons: The charger slot / handsfree and memory slot is a PAIN

Summary: Unlike some people, I look for a phone with good reception that is somewhat stylish and feels substantial.

The ringers and wallpaper installed on the phone are pathetic. I like the mp3 player and its capability, however plugging in the charger and hands free is a pain for someone with large hands. This phone has very good reception in my area. The only brand phone I have seen with similar reception is Nokia regardless of model. I like candy bar style phones over flips and sliders do to the fact I have only had one go bad on me, I went through 2 Motorolla's and 1 Sanyo flip in no time.

This phone is easy to handle (however I do have large hands). Buttons have a good tactile feel with nice amber light. Despite the thin set of this phone it does not have that cheap plastic feel of some recent Samsungs (sgh-t809). As a matter of fact I bought this because my old Samsung sph-a460 never died I just fell in hate with my cdma carrier and this Trace has the same solid construction feel of that old samsung. The LCD and backlight are great if you spend time to setup the longer backlight time. I did change the setting for how long the backlight stays on to 30 sec's the 10 second default drove me nuts.

Like I said I have been a Nokia fan and the 3220 I had was like a rock, I dropped and kicked it with a cover on it and it kept on ticking. This phone seems even stronger than that, more like my Nokia 6800, almost metal like.

I need to find a tight case cover but as of today vendors only have the t509 cover and it looks like an ill fitting diaper.
Hint to Samsung, some stereo earbuds for the mp3 player would be nice since your port like Nokia's is proprietary. I feel this phone is a good value especially with the rebates.

    Updated
After spending more quality time with this phone and giving my blue tooth adapter a workout this phone still rocks BUT DOES NOT PLAY WMA AS ADVERTISED! If you music collection is made up of WMA's beware and complain like I did to Samsung and T-mobile.
I have lowered my rating to a seven. simply because this is WRONG!

"Relieved that I've found a good phone!" on by Ruined_innocence

Pros: Excellent LCD display screen, .3 inches thick, quad-band GSM, decent talk time

Cons: display does not stay lit, ringtones aren't very loud, battery hard to take off

Summary: I just signed a contract with T-mobile. Given the 2 week trial period, I started off with a Nokia 6103. I quickly traded that in for a Samsung t609 and was STILL unsatisfied. I decided to trade that in for the newest release, the Samsung T519. I immediately fell in love with it. Out of the three listed phones, the "Trace" offers the longest talk time(6 hours). The keys are easier to manage as well. The applications load up more time efficiently then the other phones i've used. One thing i really love about it is the ability to use mp3's as ringers. I make my own at www.myphonefiles.com and just send them to the phone. I had trouble doing that with the others. It's really a beautiful phone. It's so slim that I put it in my pocket and don't even realize it's in there. The extra memory slot is AWESOME...i can store many more pictures, ringers, mp3's, data..etc. One thing that was difficult to manage was the battery door. It's pretty hard to take off. This could be a GOOD thing and a Bad Thing. The keypad works excellent for me. However, someone with larger fingers could definitely have some issues with it. Overall, i'm extremely satisfied with my choice. I couldn't have asked for a more attractive, feature packed phone, at a reasonable price.

"Good Phone! Ok battery life. Lightweight" on by rupter

    Pros: Great Display, Good Reception.

Cons: No programmable softkeys. Keys a little too small

Summary: Purchased this 2 1/2 weeks ago. So far the phone seems to perform well. The signal strength is good. I am comparing to a nokia workhorse 6010 that is a excellent basic phone-with no gadgets though. I wanted to upgrade to a little better phone with bluetooth for a while but had always waited. My 6010 got stolen so I decided to get this. Battery life is O.K. I am getting about 3 days with the bluetooth on and in standby mode. Talk time is about 30 minutes per day. The stated standby time is 8 days and talk time is 6 hours. It does'nt seem like I am getting that much! Cnet say's this phone has programmable softkeys but I can not see how you can program them. I think it does not have them. If anyone can tell me how please let me know.I find the key's a little to small and find myself mis-typing some times-but with how small and thin this phone is I guess that is to be expected.

"Lots of features but cheap quality" on by gavinwink

Pros: bluetooth, mini sd card, small

Cons: small buttons, cheaply made and awkward to hold

Summary: This phone has alot of features but the the makers didn't think about the usability of the phone very well. The buttons are very small and hard to use. A little crack started on the casing and now it spread. I have only had the phone for 2 months. The phone was very cheaply made and its not worth the money.

"Cute Phone Fragile Casing" on by chicafontaine

    Pros: Slim & Great Photos

    Cons: Too Fragile

Summary: The moment I saw this phone, I had to have it. And in September 2006 I purchased it. At first, everything was lovely. I love the photo quality, and the fact that I could insert a memory card with music/photos, etc. However, when the phone gets too cold outside, the buttons and functions stop working. The Sound quality was not so great either. Eventually my phone snapped in half. I didn't physically harm it, One moment it was fine, the next it had bent and cracked. Soon after that the LCD stopped working. I still love this phone and thought about getting it again, but I think my next choice will be the Sony W810i.

Really nice phone, but keep it in the case and be careful with it, quite fragile.
