Pros: it's sleek and stylish and makes you look cool
Cons: it's frustrating and tedious to use
Summary: The idea is wonderful, but it's so frustrating to use. The flipping is just about enough to make you insane. Switching back and forth to do simple functions is annoying (and if they have the technology to flip, why make us push a button to do it?). And the touch sensor pad is great if you have fingers the size of a 2 year old. I found that every time I was in the middle of something, like adding a contact, I would accidently brush my finger over the touch pad on my way to to the "enter" button and lose everything as it sent me back to the main menu. Other problems: You can't change your own battery and you have to buy extra memory. Also, the speaker is terrible. Even on full volume, it's very difficult to hear. So don't expect to make a call with the speaker phone option, you won't hear him, he won't hear you.
I admit, the phone is pretty and neat and has lots of cool features, which is why I was drawn to it in the first place, but if you like a user friendly phone that doesn't frustrate you without end, go with the Sanyo M1. It has better reception, better volume and speaker control, 1G of memory built in, a beter camera and it's a breeze to use. I lasted 2 weeks with the new Upstage...2 weeks too long. -

Summary: This phone is a great phone if you are looking for something unique and not a traditional flip phone. I have had this phone a week and am very happy with it. The user interface is easy to use and have not had any problems with it. Could use some more customization. For example, when you are flipped to the big screen, there are 3 quick access icons to choose from; one is the sync with computer icon, next is the music player icon, and the third is the music store icon. You should be able to change those. Also, to get to your favorites list you need to go the menu first. That should have a soft key from anywhere. The touch wheel is a bit lame. You can scroll with it but sometimes it will end or go back because those options are on the touch wheel. A bit of a pain. They should just use a button style wheel. Also, the extended battery/case which is great should have its own charging port. In order to charge the case, you have to have the phone plugged into it as well. Again, not a major issue just a convenience issue.
The pros are many. The sound quality is excellent and the phone is easy to use. Getting music and pictures on the phone is easy to do as long as you do not use the software the phone comes with. Just plug the card into the computer and drag and drop. The camera has good quality for a phone (if you want digital camera quality then take pictures with a camera, not a phone). The battery life is amazing on this phone with the extended battery. I have had it a week, used it frequently and still have 2 bars on each. The extended battery acts as a leather case for the phone and works good also. So far no problems with reception or dropped calls.
Overall I give this phone an 8. I do not like flip phones so this phone is great. It does everything I need a cell phone to do and a whole lot more. It is easy to use and looks very stylish. -

Pros: An mp3 player and phone all in one device. When paired with Sprint's Power Vision pak, this phone's potential is unlocked. The phone is thin and light, but feels solid and durable.
Cons: The dual-side interface and nav pad take a while to get used to (especially if you're most familiar with the iPod's wheel).
Summary: This is most definitely a consumer-oriented phone. If you're looking for a business-focused phone, this is not it.
But, if you're tired of lugging both an mp3 player and a phone, this is the device for you. Multi-tasking (multiple apps running or answer a call while listening to music) is a great feature. The interface, does take some getting used to (the included tutorial is incredibly helpful) but the overall experience is positive and the sound quality is acceptable. -

Cons: horrible navigation keys, poor user interface, ringer too quite,, useless speaker-phone. Drove me flipping crazy!
Summary: I really tried to like this phone. I gave it 10 full days before returning it. The music navigation keys (which must be used for more than just music) will drive you nuts. I frequently had to restart typing text messages from the beginning after accidentally touching the touch sensitive navigation keys. Flipping back and forth is a frustrating excersize which must constantly be performed.
Ringer is way too quiet.
Speakerphone is useless. -

Summary: i was really excited about this phone. i've been on sprint forever & have always been frustrated by the lack of cool phones available. so i was really looking forward to trading up to this one. the size is amazing. it's so small & looks completely different from most things i've seen. i like the samsung interface & menu options. i was expecting to be very happy with this phone, but after having it for less than 24 hours, i returned it. i use the ondemand, text, phone & web the most & all of those are ridiculously frustrating to use on this phone. it's the constant flipping. the text is just silly on that tiny screen - usable but a serious adjustment after having been used to the bigger screens on most phones. the web & on demand were frustrating b/c you have to hit the flip softkey every time you want to enter info. then enter the info, then softkey flip again then scroll to the next box, flip, enter, flip, scroll....it was just too much trouble for me. there are only 4 menu options available on the phone side. so, you can understand the number of menu choices that would require the flipping. i also almost dropped it several times trying to flip enter flip with one hand. i'm sure it's something you could get used to if you thought it was worth it to have the phone.
all in all, i appreciate the coolness factor of this phone. i really like the idea & the size, but in practical day to day use, it's just not functional. kudos to sprint, though, for trying to be cool.
