"Better than Expected" on by lapratt

Pros: Large screen, great battery life, lots of features, small size

Cons: slippery keys, bluetooth drains battery, fragile screens

Summary: When I first saw the phone, I was very excited and wanted to be one of the first to buy one. But, I held off and did my homework. Many of the reviews I've read downgraded the pone. Despite these, I went ahead and bought it, making sure of the return policy. I'm glad I did.
I don't need fany features such as tv and 3G support. I just need a phone that makes and recieves calls, and that holds a lot of contacts and scheduled events. This phone more than fulfills my needs. It has a huge screen and tons of features. The only downside is that it doesn't have a video recorder, only a camera.
The battery life on this phone is phenomenal. It can go several days on Standby with about and hour of talk time in between. If you turn the bluetooth on, though, it only lasts for about a day. Also, the people at the Sprint Store said that the screen is too fragile to put in a pocket, so I had to put out another $20 on a holster.
Overall, this is a great phone. If you're looking for a phone that does what a cell phone is supposed to do, plus a few extra features, this phone is for you. If you want a media phone with mp3 and 3G support, then you're losing the true meaning of a cell phone. It's strengths overwhelm it's weaknesses, and I would recommend this phone to anybody.

"with long lasting battery life - this phone just keeps going" on by iambigred

Pros: Bluetooth; solid construction - strong hinges; size - allows for good hand grip when holding; lightweight - can carry in shirt/blouse pocket; screens - large and bright with intense color.

Cons: limited software included, even "free" ringers available from Sanyo site required purchased software and UBS cable to get them into phone

Summary: Just purchased two 6600s and also bought Bluetooth headsets. The future is hands free even in states where its not the law yet. I never knew what I was missing not having to hold the phone to my head. The Bluetooth connection was easy to make and the quality of what you hear from the two devices is exceptional.

    "Katana-Not" on by ankiel

    Pros: Tiny, Thin and Light

Cons: Ringer Vol is to low, Bluetooth sucks, Menu Bad

Summary: So I got this phone and I wish I didn't.

I paid for these ringers which you can't hear at all when someone calls you.

It's so bad. The stupid free ringers are louder than the pay ones.

    GRRR.

So I have bluetooth now.. so what all I can bluetooth is a headset and my phone number oh and phone numbers in my phone. Why can't I bluetooth pictures???

The Menu isn't as nice as the 8200 Sanyo. You use to be able to hit the up button and go to your text message inbox. And you would hit the center button for call history now it's this dumb alert thing and you can't switch the menu around.

Oh and why don't I have flash? I paid for a new phone that has less feature...

    The picture quality sucks.

I am stuck with this stupid phone for 2 years and not happy.

"decent slimline phone for basic calling features" on by meyermc

Pros: slim, light weight, elegant color and design

Cons: poor visibility in bright light environments and poor touch dialing

Summary: I find it a decent slim phone for basic calling use. I bought the phone 9/1/06 and Sprint store easily transfered my address book. My complaints about the phone are that I cannot see the LCD in bright sunlight, cannot feel the keys when dialing, quiet speakerphone, need to take off the Body Glove case to recharge, outer LCD full brightness when recharging, and no USB cable for file transfers. My previous phone was a Sanyo VM4500 and prior to that a Motorola StarTac.

Noticed other people were having trouble finding the features. Most of your questions can be answered by playing around in the Settings. Find battery life short then turn on Power Save Mode. Menu, Settings, Display, Power Save Mode, On. You will find your battery lasts much longer and Sanyo should have a longer lasting battery out soon. Want to take a picture then click on the Camera key then Ok button and Ok again. Want to take a picture of yourself follow the first two steps, close the camera and then press the side camera button when you see yourself in the external lcd. Easy stuff.

Want to change the wallpaper then click Menu, Settings, Display, Screen Saver, Main LCD, Preset. Choose Preset if you want to choose from the 2 wallpapers provided, Get New to download, In Camera or Saved to Phone to choose a photo. Yes, I know Screen Saver does not sound like wallpaper but that is how they labelled it. The actual screen saver is called Animation.

That being said you know what to do if you want to change the screen saver aka Animation. Menu, Settings, Display, Animation, Preset. If you do not like the aquarium you can choose the penguin sliding around on his belly. Want more choices choose Get New. Yes, got to love the capitalism to pay for downloads.

As for accessories you can use the ear buds for other Sanyo phones. Body Glove makes a case for the Katana. You sacrifice features when you miniaturize a device so no USB cable but you can use the Internet to upload your photos to the Sprint photo web site and then download them to your PC. The site software allows you to easily drag and drop to and from your PC.

"Nice phone but....." on by DWLeMar

Pros: Nice design, sleek, thin telephone. Clear, bright LCD display. Easy to use. The Blue Sapphire is STUNNING!

Cons: Sprint PCS did not release the drivers for this phone. You will have to re-enter all your telephone numbers manually until the drivers are released. No leather case is available at this time.

Summary: Overall good phone, but the Sprint PCS' launch of this phone was a little sloppy. No drivers were released meaning that if you are upgrading from a previous Sprint phone, you'll need to re-enter all your phone numbers manually. Unless, of course, you subscribe to the Wirelessbackup services that Sprint charges for. Also, no accessories like leather cases are available. The Razr cases don't fit because they block the earpiece, so you'll have to wait for Sprint to complete is release of all accessories for this phone.

    Poor planning on their part!...
