"So, what's wrong with basic?" on by JackM
Pros: Low cost; Easy to use; No unused frills.
Cons: Navigation to some features is not as intuitive as I'd like.
Summary: I don't know what C/Net has against a no-frills approach. Telling us "don't buy (this) phone" is like saying that we have to have all the frills we can get. I don't need a camera phone. The resolution on such is far lower than the camera I already own.
I don't need and can't afford the wireless Internet service that comes with cell phones. Who says I have to be "connected" 100% of the time? In fact, I rather enjoy not being available at all times. That is the biggest reason that so few people have my cell phone number. My phone is for my convenience, and not for others' convenience. If I were in a business requiring split second timing, that might be a different matter.
Give me something I can use quickly and easily, without all the over-kill. That's why I like this phone. -
"GOOD PHONE, HARD TO READ IN BRIGHT LIGHT THOUGH" on by 9878
Pros: SIMPLE PHONE, GOO IF YOU WANT ONLY A PHONE
Cons: NO GAMES OR USUAL EXTRAS
Summary: My wife and I have had the 200 a little over a week, and I like it. It is a basic phone. Don't get this phone if you are used to having lots of extras like games, etc.
Hard to find reasonably priced extras as it is so new. -
"Sturdy little first time cell phone for any age." on by cdnelson74
Pros: Easy to operate and can take a few bounces on concrete.
Cons: I wish I could use caller ID without having to open it.

"Great phone! Great speaker and display." on by diver1995
Pros: Did not pay for unnecessary functions/toys.
Cons: Could be a bit smaller in dimensions.
Summary: I did not have to pay for a TV, camera, video streamer, PC, or a game-boy ... all of which are not necessary for the phone to function as a great phone. Basic? Not really, my land line also functions as a great communication device. Besides, I already have a TV, a PC, a video camera, and SLR camera. No game-boy though,.. darn.

"Basic no frills phone plus I got mine free!" on by scrocker
Pros: Small and light. Speakerphone. Good signal strength. Text messaging. Got it free.
Cons: Buttons are tiny for big hands. Earpiece is so-so. No external caller-id.
Summary: I got this phone as a basic backup 2nd line phone for free from Sprint. I could have paid forty bucks more for the external caller-id but didn't see the sense in that. As an experienced cell phone user there was no learning curve; I was using it immediately. Heck, my seven year old was was able to call me on it with no training. It has Text Messaging features which may come in handy but it is a basic phone with basic features; and for the price I got what I needed.
