"great upgrade from the k700i" on by mdixson

Pros: nice feel, great looks and a user friendly layout, 3G!

    Cons: camera could be better

Summary: Great little phone, its small, sleek and powerful. The GUI is well designed and the OS is very capable. You can take nice photos with the camera although not to the standard of the k750i; although it is 1.3 Mega pixel compared to the 750's 2. The buttons are eaasy to use and have a nice blue backlight. The Power connector on the bottom is also improved from the badly designed 700's.
But by far the best feature of this phone is that it is a fully featured 3G mobile and you need to use it to believe the speed of the internet using this mobile tech.
Great buy imo, and a def. improvement on my old, faulty, k700i!

"Good phone and image booster if You can discount some design constraints" on by rites

Pros: Cool hi-tech design, good, convenient (improved) menu organisation, crisp display, USB cable, good stereo earbuds, flashlight-night lamp

Cons: Slippery, keyboard takes a bit of your patience

Summary: This alu-brick has very eye-catching design which is no doubt the main weapon of K600i. but not only. It has much improved menu navigation versus t630 i.e. Now it stuffs most of my wishes :) not realised in earlier models, like to navigate through submenus in all directions of cursor, not only up/down and so. Possibility to view phone numbers not only names in called list unfortunately is not yet in there. I like to use USB cable, new convenient MP3 and MIDI suport and what really splashed about was the flashlight as lamp in dark situations: it really helps!
I read comments from others and was concerned about a keyboard but the devil is not so black :) It takes some patience to operate these slippery small and flat buttons but it comes to OK after 2-4 days (and remember of "nothing-like-" design :)! ) O.K. now comes on my opinion biggest flaw (or design constraint or...) : Upper side of the phone (where "on" button) is completely flat also and makes a pretty sharp edge with front side. And this is the point to jam to your ear. So my first impression was not of best... Anyway now after a week nothing seems uncomfortable to me. Maybe only one thing- by writing SMS you have to slow down. Fast typing does not come through. Time to switch to Nokia? Oh, no!

    Updated
One more thing- someone wrote about search in contacts book only by first letter. Of course, possibility to search by combinations of letters is here.

    "So-so handset" on by al_razavi

    Pros: Just fashionable

Cons: Keypad, Missed some features that was integrated on old models.

Summary: I have bought a new K600i a week ago and I just wanted to add my notes to be considered on it.

1- The captured picture in 1280 res. is not clear. You'll realise this when you transfer a saved picture to your PC or laptop and you will find it looks like a zoomed 640*480 picture not as a real 1280*1024 picture.

2- During phone ringing unlike old models (T200 and T310) you can't mute the phone ring by pressing the "c" button.

3- I tried to connect the handset with CDU-11 to my PC. The result was detecting by it's software "PC Suite" randomly.

4- The date and time stamp for received SMS is too bright and very difficult to read.

5- The key pressing is a major problem on this phone.

6- The accept button will be switched from right to left in the menus. Sometimes you must press the right "-" key and sometimes the left "-" key.

7- Responding to the key press by the operating system has some delay. It can be felt obviously when you try to call a party from the dialled list. (By pressing the left "-" key twice)

8- If the volume keys (Beside right of the cell phone) are pressed the phone status will appear.
The problem is when it was pressed and left alone the handset will not go back to the lock mode and will be remain as unlocked.

9- I couldn't find an option to scan the in-range available bluetooth devices in the phone.

10- When you want to end a call by pressing the left "-" key the phone goes to the control panel menu after ending the call and you have to press the arrow key to back to the standby screen.

The above notes are what I discovered by this few days checking and I don't know is there any new firmware to fix some of them or not.

    Updated
I've waited 4 months for this device to be released in UAE market.

    PROS:
    1- The best features!
2- The images on the LCD are very brilliant and clear.

    CONS:
1- First of all the keypad pressing is a challenge. The animated actions in calls, sending message and so is confused in many times.
2- The joystick will be pressed without your notification if it's carried in your hand with your wallet or id it's in your pocket and by just a few press and the first contact in your address book will receive a BLANK message! It will be reapeted until you be noticed or that party call asking you about this bahaviour. Very bad!
Many time hapened for me upto I discovered the source of the problem. Now I have added a "AA" as a first contact in my address book with a "0" phone number to avoid sending blank test messages to my cousin overseas.
3- The "YES" and "NO" keys are changed the places in many menues. For example somtimes the "YES" key is defined by the right key press and some other times by the left key press!
4- You can not send a single message to more than 15 contacts at a time.
5- You can not add more than 15 contacts in a group.
6- The Auto keylock will not be effected if you are in most of menues.
7- The minimum brightness of the LCD is 50%!
8- The messages stamped date and time is not visable is one of the pre-loaded theme "Cubey".
    9- No International and a traveller's phone.
10- Tech. Inf. and Email support are poor by the manufacturer website for all Sony Ericsson handsents as my experience.

"Go for the latest K610i instead !!" on by rockymountaintsunami

Pros: Small & Slim 3G phone

Cons: Currently out of stock & somewhat limited built-in memory

Summary: The latest K610i from Sony Ericsson is one of the smallest & slimmest 3G phone in the market. And probably one of the first 3G phone that may set the benchmark for others to follow. 2-megapixel camera, micro memory stick, video call, media player, etc. Available in carbon black, urban silver or evening red. Anyone shopping for a new phone, don't forget to check out this one.

"A worthy decendant of the Nokia 6310i" on by mxporkchop

Pros: Very fashionable (in a minimalistic way); good feature set; feels solid; great screen.

Cons: Flushed keypad is a little difficult to use; phonebook search using the first letter only.

Summary: I'm a big fan of the Nokia 6310i. It was a great phone when it was first launched. I've had several phones ever since and the closest I got to getting an evolved 6310i was the 6600. Unfortunately, the 6600 was too plasticky.

It's because of this that I say that the SE K600i fills in the N6310i niche. As a business-oriented phone, it has very robust functionality.

It ups the N6310i in the looks department though. It's very fahionable if you like the minimalist look. It's dutone color scheme of matte silver and black looks cool professionally and casually. Elegant is an appropriate word to describe it.

It also feels very solid. It's like it's been cut from a block of aluminum. This is very important for me especially since a lot of phones nowadays are so plasticky with a lot flex in their body structure.

I won't comment on the GUI as this can be easily learned. It's similar to what Nokia's series 40. My only complaints are as follows:

    - the phonebook search is based on the first letter only of the contact

    - the Mac OS "Tiger" iSync doesn't support it (as of this writing)

The only other complaint is the flushed keypad. Sometimes, I find that my key presses aren't registered. Slowing down my tapping seems to help.

Overall, I recommend this phone to anyone looking for a full feature phone that doesn't feel like a toy.
